Sonic Forces brings the stank
Hoobastank's frontman provides the vocals for Sonic Forces' poppy theme.
We're not one to get our hopes up (especially when it comes to the Sonic The Hedgehog brand), but Sonic Forces for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is starting to look like a bloody decent game.
First, it pandered to scores of the blue bullet's manic fanbase by finally allowing players to customise their very own character (something that just about every die-hard Sonic fan has done at some stage).
Then, it was revealed during E3 that a lineup of classic villains, like Shadow the Hedgehog and Metal Sonic, would be making a return.
Now, by the power of Robotnik's mo, Sonic Forces is bringing back Hoobastank's Douglas Robb to lend his supreme vocals to Sonic Forces' theme song Fist Bump.
The rock-pop group (with a name so ridiculous it actually became an insult at my high-school) shot to fame with its 2003 hit, The Reason. Whether, it was the fact that no one could take the name seriously, or that The Reason had the Stank made in the shade, the band's fleeting fame fizzled out after just one hit. Now, Robb (and by extension, the rest of the Hoobs) will be entering the spotlight once again.
Strangely, this odd pairing actually works. Robb's pop-punk seasoned vocals are the perfect fit for the hyperactive theme song. It's also important to remember that Sonic has a lot of attitude. Of course, his CD rack would be jam-packed with the likes of Simple Plan, Sum 41 and Hoobastank.
