Sally McMullen
never we never go there. Never beenAlex Hourigan
to cute little pizzeria. On one two Street. quaint, very quiet laid back. Yeah, very toolbar. Katie, it is the one and only Frankie's pizza. Have you ever been? Yes. Okay.Unknown Speaker
I went when I was very drunk afterwards. And I would say it's. It's very cute. Not cute. It's grungy. It's grungy, but the pizza was delicious. And I think I had a vegan. A vegan pizza. I'm not vegan. I don't know why we ate me. But it was very good.Alex Hourigan
Yeah. So Frankie's is like a dirty dive rock and roll bar. And I would I would go as far to say you don't start the night at Frankie's,Unknown Speaker
but I do youAlex Hourigan
finish it there is the kind of there's a place that we will always go before Frankie's all had like work drinks, and then it hits like, like, nine o'clock, and we're like, Frank, we get like a twinkle in our eye like. But yeah, obviously they have the best pizza. Yeah, for the end of the night out. If you don't like rock and roll music. I would probably say this isn't the bar for you.Sally McMullen
I want to show for you. Really? Oh.Unknown Speaker
Is there a show? I honestly don't even know when.Sally McMullen
But yeah, they have amazing pizza, live music. And yeah, obviously rock and roll. And I would say that the bar is pretty straightforward as well. They didn't really fuck around with cocktails and stuff there. It's like, you know, you get used they I think they have a good range of beers if that's your vibe, but I would definitely Yeah. But yeah, one of the specialties is they do fresh apple juice mixes. So if you're into like a fresh apple juice vodka, orUnknown Speaker
are you kidding with a four? Pack? I did not knowSally McMullen
this. And it's so so delicious. Yeah,Alex Hourigan
I feel as well. Like I don't have as much of a hangover when I have the apple juice and vodka. Because I'm like, I'm getting my five day. Yeah, yeah. What's your like? Go to drink? Tequila soda. Yeah,Sally McMullen
you should try tequila apple juice.Unknown Speaker
We tried that.Sally McMullen
I'm not a tequila drinker, but I have tried it. And I do I feel like it takes the edge off of the tequila for me, but that's a lot of people's go to there.Alex Hourigan
Yeah, okay, more than like the people more go for like Kayla apple. Like Sal hates tequila. Yeah,Sally McMullen
I've bought because at Frankie's when I was in my early 20s I'd always give me free tequila shots there but with no lime with no nothing. So I just do that and I've just had so many days after from Frankie's tequila that it's termI I feel like okay trauma. She said Yeah, so Frankie smasher bossAlex Hourigan
pass get out all right, well we willUnknown Speaker
wait smash means yes, yes sorry smackAlex Hourigan
Okay, all right quick recoveryUnknown Speaker
and also most places close down early so Frankie's is the one of the only places you can go after you go outAlex Hourigan
legit because they're open till 3am 330 ISally McMullen
think 330 today Yeah.Alex Hourigan
Well, like so happy like dancing, having the best time. God God and he's like, we're like waking up and he was like, You guys still want to go out? We're like, what's going on? Like, where's the party? Where's the bars after strawberry hills and we were like, I don't even know what that is. It's like oh my God and I think it closes at 5am butSally McMullen
it is not die. It is literally the cesspool, no shadeAlex Hourigan
that goes That'sSally McMullen
fine, but when you end up there at five it's not it's not you should be at home.Alex Hourigan
I swear we walked in, looked and we were like, We gotta go. Like it's time to go home the party. We have this thing. It's like nothing good happens after 2am Oh, wow, you like, right, like, when it's too late again and you're like, No, let's keep going. Nothing good is gonna happen. You really should just go home and I say that about 11pm Yeah, I think that vibe now, to be honest, likeUnknown Speaker
are your hangovers better after you go? Or worse?Alex Hourigan
Always have like a pulled neck from like, day head banging, like rock and roll music. Just anyway. So Frankie Smash. Yes, yes. Thank you smash. Okay. All right, moving on to probably, I would say the most iconic Instagram place at the moment. I'm sure something will pop up. But right now it's the it girl hotspot of Sydney. And that is toddies Have you been to Thailand before? Yes, I was gonna say sure.Unknown Speaker
I've been there twice.Alex Hourigan
Twice. Have you been to the one in Bondi CBD or Roselle? Oh, actuallyUnknown Speaker
twice in Bondi once in the city and I'm going to the Rosa one tomorrow for the first time.Sally McMullen
We went there last week for the first time.Unknown Speaker
Was that one the nicest?Sally McMullen
I think I think it was more chill. Yeah.Alex Hourigan
Okay, I want to hear like what did you think toddies was gonna be like, so I'm sure you probably saw it all over the ground. Yeah. And what was like your first impression and your thoughts on it.Unknown Speaker
Okay, my girlfriend really hyped it up. So when we got there, I was like, okay, because it was cute. We sat out on the patio was outside and Bondi, and I'm just not really a fan.Alex Hourigan
Wow, ISally McMullen
know. The food'sUnknown Speaker
okay. It's subpar. I think influencers go there to take photos and say like, oh, I'm at toddies. But I'd rather go to like gharana or burpees. Or like, better Italian food and travel. I love that place. And darling.Alex Hourigan
Oh my gosh. Yeah. Have you had that dessert? That's like in the little coffee car? Yes. Oh my God I've ever had in my entire life.Sally McMullen
What did you get it? toddiesUnknown Speaker
Oh, I know. We got the tomatoes. Yeah, we got the little anchovies.Sally McMullen
Oh, yeah. Maybe the wrong did you get that burrata and the bread? Yes,Unknown Speaker
we did. Okay, yeah,Sally McMullen
everybody's anchovies. I do love the tomatoes. Yeah, I like the tomato pasta. DidUnknown Speaker
you get I don't even remember this girl. She doesn't evenAlex Hourigan
tell you. No, it wasn't like yeah, it didn't. Because yeah, like there's, you know how you'll travel. And there'll be like this one dish that you had on one holiday like three years ago that you're just thinking about that like pasture and off the pasture. AndUnknown Speaker
maybe like Seattle. I was born there.Sally McMullen
Oh my god. I loved it. There. We went there in 2019. And I cannot remember. I can we can probably go back. Yeah, IAlex Hourigan
definitely want a photo of it. Go back and we'll find it. Yeah, probably. It was like on a corner. Yeah,Sally McMullen
yeah. And it was like, Italian family a bit rustic vibe. Yeah, it was so so good. What's your toddies vibe? Like, what do I think of it? I like it. I definitely don't think it's the best Italian I've ever eaten in my life. But it's a good vibe. The cocktails yummy. So that's why I always go back.Alex Hourigan
So that's what I was gonna say. The food is like, yes. Yummy. And I liked the appetisers because they feel really fresh, like the cucumber and the tomatoes you like. It's like nice and cold on Italian fresh and I like that. Yeah, but the real spritz cocktail, which is like the kind of like bubbly guavaberry Rosae oh my god that I could literally drink like 17 of them once. So yeah, I probably have did like lunch there for the podcast once. I think I had literally like 12 Like it was because like, I don't know, I've laid down a little too. So good and like Sal doesn't even like wine. And like she likes that cocktail.Unknown Speaker
You guys are giving me like signature drinks from each venue. I love that. Yeah.Alex Hourigan
Yes. I Frankie's is the tequila apple. Yeah, these Israel spreads. My thing with toddies is I think it's like a fun time to go, especially if you're visiting Sydney. But I think there are definitely better places that you can probably get better bang for your buck as well. Like yeah, Vasco, which is an Italian place in Surry Hills. It's kind of a little bit grungy er as well. It's also a rock and roll. But they do like a bottomless brunch, like eight or you can think on Saturdays and Sunday, where you can get unlimited drinks and unlimited food that might be false. We shall check but it's like a really, really good deal for what you get. And I think it's like $89 Yeah.Sally McMullen
So the food good. It's so good.Alex Hourigan
So the minute sorry you go Yeah,Sally McMullen
the menu was designed by the chef who Arens or design the menu for Matteo. Oh, no way. Yeah. So it is incredible. It's pretty affordable. The drinks are also delish. What's our go to theirAlex Hourigan
minds are Southside? Yeah, yeah. Southside is Jen. Mint cucumber, a little bit of sugar syrup. It's like a non sweet Mojito. And it gets you lit. Yeah,Sally McMullen
they also do make a mean Mojito at Vasco as well and it's not too sweet because I hate a really sweet Mohit I want it to be like really citrusy and sour. But yeah, and they also play really good music and the people who work there a total vibe. We harass them. Yeah, wayUnknown Speaker
to go, but I didn't go yet. I'll try very.Alex Hourigan
Go on camera. That's where they're okay. Oh, they don't have the details of it. Okay, wait, no 65 bottom was possible. We go back. This real went too quickly. Okay, 65 bottomless Pizza, pasta, beer and wine.Sally McMullen
Sorry, good. See, that'sAlex Hourigan
what I mean was like we went to Tony's and it was $54 for one pasta that I could have eaten in one breath. Yeah. So as much as I love the vibe of toddies. I like kind of what it signifies. And so yeah, I think it's a pass for me.Sally McMullen
Yeah. As much as I go there, and we'll go back. It was a pass I think. Yeah, we'llAlex Hourigan
be saying this is episode will come on. And that weekend will be like, toddy,Unknown Speaker
I think I prefer Matteo is over toddies if you had to choose for a vibe.Alex Hourigan
The one in double bay. Yeah. Yeah. And actually,Unknown Speaker
I went to the one in the city just last week. And it was so cute.Sally McMullen
It is nice. Yeah, I like it. I liked the vibe in there. I feel like I liked the menu at the double bay. One better, though. Oh, doUnknown Speaker
they have different menus? Okay, yeah,Sally McMullen
they had more plasters,Alex Hourigan
which I liked. Yeah. We love a pasta. Yeah. As you can do. You got boots? All right, moving on. Another one that's kind of in the same area. But Bondi Beach. What do we think I live there? But I hearSally McMullen
what you're saying. Yeah.Alex Hourigan
Like, so there's this this weird thing that people that actually live in Bondi Beach? Never go to Bondi Beach. Okay, which like, I didn't grow up there. I grew up in Castle Hill, which is like 40 minutes? Yes, like, West. And then like, because I would go to Bondi Beach to go to Bondi Beach. And then now, whenever you ask someone like, Oh, do you want to go to the beach? Like yeah, should be where should we go like Clovelly or, like Gordon Spain? We don't just go to strange I never like realised it. Yeah, it's because like, I don't have Bondi Beach. This probably isn't like it as a as a vibe and a jet like vicinity with like bars and the beach and the water and like the cliffs and stuff is beautiful. I love to live there. Yeah, but the beach itself is probably not my favourite beach.Sally McMullen
Yeah. What do you reckon, though? Because Have you heard of Bondi Beach before you move to Sydney.Unknown Speaker
So funny. So I moved to Sydney without ever visiting before. So all I knew about Sydney was Bondi. And so I booked an Airbnb for three weeks in Bondi. And when I got picked up from the airport, and I was on my way to Bondi, I thought, I can't live in Australia. This is if this is Australia. I can't live here.Alex Hourigan
Oh my God, why did you?Unknown Speaker
Like it was, so my Airbnb was right next to the futon ologists. So it was that right on Bondi Beach. It was kind of more up the road. Do you know the futala just is.Alex Hourigan
Which what straight? Is it? Was it on Bondi road? Or was it on Campbell parade next toUnknown Speaker
the hotel where everybody goes? Oh, yes. Oh, right over there. So when I saw, like the architecture there, I was just like, wow, it's very everything so Oh, and then when I got to Bondi Beach, I thought, like, I love icebergs. I think it's so beautiful there, but the actual beach reminds me of kind of Venice Beach. Santa Monica vibes. I guess. It's more tourists are there Yeah. Backpackers. And so I'm just like, I want I prefer the harbour beaches. I love shark beach. I love Clontarf beach. And the Northern Beaches.Sally McMullen
Right? Yeah, right my heart. Now I'd have to agree because I grew up in Wollongong in like the northern suburbs. So all the beaches there are beautiful. Whereas now I live in the inner west so it's a track to get to Bondi Beach and yeah, I just get the same thing like touristy vibes Yeah, the water is beautiful. I like to go down there for a dip with owl but I'm we don't spend a day IAlex Hourigan
really go to the beach. They were iceberg. We'll go to Gordon's Bay. This is what I mean. Like you don't actually go to Bondi Beach because it's just so many. Always someone playing music out loud on a speaker, which is my pet peeve. We always say toys like a beachy, like levelSally McMullen
every fucking time. Vici Yeah, that's funny.Alex Hourigan
Terrible, but yeah, I still think it's a smash for me. Because I love living there. And I love Bondi. Yeah, but like the beach itself. Maybe not.Sally McMullen
There's just nicer places to go. Yeah, that aren't that far from Bondi. Yeah, if you're gonna go all the way out there. Yeah. If you wantedAlex Hourigan
to go to a nice like beach in the east, I would say Clovelly or Gordon's Bay, but you still got to get there early to get a good spot.Sally McMullen
Oh my god. Yeah. Great.Alex Hourigan
Is it a smasher Pass, pass? Pass? Yes. I just made me do your accent that as well. And then I like let me take my place as well. about you as a dispatcher passSally McMullen
to pass. We're on the same page here. Yeah,Alex Hourigan
I'm paying ganged up on according to podcast, okay. Next up is another Fave bleep markets, thoughts and emotions.Unknown Speaker
I went for the first time maybe two months ago. So cute, isn't it? Yeah, it reminds me of Melrose trading post, which happens every Sunday in Los Angeles is like the place to go. Yeah. And it just kind of gave me those vibes. So I really liked it.Alex Hourigan
What would be like your tips to what would you shop at glade market?Unknown Speaker
Oh, I got a candle. Cue. Yeah, this woman makes her own candles and has done done that for I don't know. 30 plus years. And there was another lady who just I don't know. It was like these little cute pillows. But doll version two was little pillows of fruit. Mushroom. Just random. Yeah,Alex Hourigan
yeah. Very sweet. Were a big fan of like the vintage shopping there as well. Okay, like Holly? Yeah, t shirt as well as like a little nickname Levi's. Levi's? Yeah, that denim stool. That's just like denim shorts, denim skirts, denim jeans. And they're like, all vintage Levi's. So they kind of all worn in a little bit. And you can just find one that like fits you so well. And then there was another thing. Oh, then like this all the time. And like the girls that are having their own store, get really, really cheap. secondhand clothing, like back and bridge, Camilla remark. So yeah, we've done a few stores there as well. I really Yeah. It's a lot of work. It's a big day. Yeah. making so much money. I think we made I made $800 The first time we did. Yeah. Yeah. That's so good. And like my clothing that I was selling wasn't even like that fancy or expensive because I think we did it when, what, like five years ago. So it was all like my princess Polly that I was like, I don't wear any of this anymore. That doesn't fit.Sally McMullen
Mine was like all of my other secondhand stuff that I bought from glade markets in previous years and then it was Yeah, exactly. Be I love it. It's my favourite market in Sydney for sure. I think it's the best one.Alex Hourigan
Yeah, it's on every Saturday and it's just a nice thing to do. Like on a Saturday rather than being hungover.Sally McMullen
Or if you are hung over there is a great kebabs stand there and mystery and lemonade and that used to be my go to when I lived in Glebe. I'd be at Frankie's all night and then I just rolled down the street to the market and treat myself to a cabana lemonade sort you're right out.Alex Hourigan
So some days we'd go and it'd be really hot and we'd be really hungover and I was, I don't know if I can do this. There's nothing worse than like when you're hungover and the next day is really hot. Yeah, you're trying to go do an activity and like, convince yourself you're not hungover and you're like, push through, push through, push through and then you're like, I can't, like I'm getting the cold sweats and I'm like, this is gonna go downhill quickly.Sally McMullen
Yeah. Alright, so glade market smash or pass Smash, smash smash absolut Smash.Alex Hourigan
So to recap, we've got one more but Frank is has been a unanimous Smash. Tories has been a unanimous pass. Bondi Beach, mixed mixed reviews, two passes one Smash, which the Smash was correct. Clay markets unanimous smash and then last but not least one that's probably dear to your heart is like the city Darling Harbour circular key. Fun fact. For years, I thought it was circular way. I'm talking. I was like 19. And I was out with friends. And I was like, why don't we just get fair to secular quiet and I would like, watch. And I was like, why? And then they kept saying what and I was like, so he like wait, and then they'll like so funny. It was gonna tell. I was like, oh, no,Sally McMullen
no, I'm from the hill.Alex Hourigan
But yeah, so what are you? You live in the city, don't you?Unknown Speaker
Oh my gosh. Okay. Got a long story. Okay, so I lived in Rose Bay. Well, so I lived in Bondi right? Didn't like it after the Airbnb. I moved to Roseberry. I lived there for a year and a half. Then I moved to the city, which I really did enjoy because it was so close to work close to Pilates. And then after the city I moved to Chippendale for two weeks. Oh my god, whatSally McMullen
happened? gotUnknown Speaker
kicked out for having a dogAlex Hourigan
daubed? Yeah, that's what I want to know.Unknown Speaker
That's what I want to know.Unknown Speaker
I have no idea. Let's find them.Unknown Speaker
And then I now I'm back in the east.Alex Hourigan
Oh my god, where rosebay Rosebud is beautiful. I lived there before I moved to Bondi.Sally McMullen
Okay, so you have experienced though living in the city and obviously working there and everything. So what do you think of like the city Darling Harbour Circular Quay? The whole vibe.Unknown Speaker
I'm so biassed, cuz I think I would never live in any downtown. What you guys call CBD. anywhere else in the world. I wouldn't live in Los Angeles downtown. I wouldn't live in San Francisco or New York because it's just so many people. And it's so dirty. I think the CBD here is just so clean was so nice. Like there aren't that. It's just everything is immaculate. And I think that the restaurants all the restaurants are in the CBD in my opinion.Alex Hourigan
You don't agree? No.Unknown Speaker
It's either Potts point or the CBD. I feel like I neverAlex Hourigan
know where to go in the CBD. Brian Oh, yeah, we're gonna go.Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yeah. So I think I just I loved being there. I think circular key. I moved to Sydney three weeks before the first lockdown. So when I went to the opera house, it was just me and another stranger, like many feet apart from each other. So like, that was an amazing experience to walk through the rocks to see to see the opera house just completely alone. So I think that was special. But now it's a lot of you know, people and a lot of tourists again. So I would say I love the city and Darling Harbour because Darling Harbour has really cute events in the so pass no Smash, smash smash to the city and Darling Harbour pass to circulate way.Sally McMullen
Really, I still love circular K though, just because of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. I even live living in Sydney for the last eight years and growing up like not that far away. So I'd see it all the time. But I still am like, like, when I'm on the train. I always like look up at Circular Quay to get the view. I feel very lucky to live here.Alex Hourigan
Yeah, I don't think I could ever live in the CBD. No, I don't think likely. Yeah, I think it would. It feels like not warm to me. Like it feels very impersonal. And it doesn't kind of feel homey. Yeah, in a way. I think that's that's what it is. Like it's just it feels a bit cold. Yeah, I could only live around the buildings and I'm like, I want to see some you know what I mean? I need some grass. emotion and yeah, that kind of vibe and some dogs whereas like the city just doesn't have that for me picture 10 inSally McMullen
Hyde Park or the Botanic GardensUnknown Speaker
I looked over Hyde Park so I'd see Hyde Park all the time. Yeah, beautiful. Yeah, that was nice. But I totally agree with you.Alex Hourigan
Yeah, but I love like when I think back on like nights that have you been like walking on the like, deck would you say of Darling Harbour? Yeah, we call that the Yeah, mini pier. Yeah. And just like some of the best nights of my life have just been like, oh, you know, strolling down that after a few bevvies posing absolute having been like, that's great. I'm Tom Tussauds. Like it's a good time. I just don't think I could live there. I would give it a smash. I love Sydney. People love to talk Sydney and like, yeah, the nightlife definitely probably isn't as good as like Melbourne or whatever. But just, we're probably all biassed. Yeah.Unknown Speaker
Better city for sure. Yeah. Yeah, well, theSally McMullen
Melbourne cheeks Yeah.Alex Hourigan
What's that Sarah Davidson had like a comparison about Sydney and Melbourne. Yeah, I saw that which was so good. And it's like Sydney and Melbourne and like two sisters and like Sydney is the sister that's like a little bit like pretty. Like she's got Bondi Beach and the harbour and all that stuff. So she's never really had to like work on her personality. A little bit like she's nice and everything but you know, like, she's nice to look at and oh, that was like Melbourne is maybe the one that's not as pretty but that means just had to work on our personality a bit more. It's maybe a little bit more fun and more cultured. Yeah. Oh my gosh, that's so true.Unknown Speaker
But Sydney's caught up now. Do you think I think so. The everyone says the coffee in the cafes are better better in Melbourne, but I think we've definitely caught up.Sally McMullen
Yeah, I would agree, actually. Yeah.Alex Hourigan
Yeah, I like both of them for different reasons. Yeah,Sally McMullen
totally. Yeah. IAlex Hourigan
don't think I could ever live anywhere too long that wasn't so I reckon I could do like maybe like a three month stint in Melbourne, but then I would always find my way back home. Hannah Montana,Sally McMullen
once again.Alex Hourigan
comes from the clutch. Well, a few good smashes in there. I think so. Yeah, Sydney. Overall, smash. Yeah,Sally McMullen
she's a smash.Alex Hourigan
All right. So you're a seasoned pro in Sydney. Now you've kind of been making your way around town, not in that way. So what have been some of your best Sydney finds that if people are visiting or they live here that they need to go check out? run us through them?Unknown Speaker
Oh, are we talking about the three businesses? Yeah, your top three. So yes, yes. Yes. Okay. Okay, so I love sushi. I'm obsessed with sushi. So I've been to a lot of the different restaurants I would say my favourite is sock a in the rocks, because it kind of reminds me of kutsu in Los Angeles and the vibe is onpoint the sushi is good. I do like soak yo to the food's good there but I don't think the vibe isAlex Hourigan
as onpoint as five it's very important.Unknown Speaker
And then I love the Shoe Goo in recluse obsessed.Alex Hourigan
Oh, is that a sushi places? Yes.Unknown Speaker
I took my parents there. My mom was like, This is so delicious. I want to come back Can I Can we please come back? Oh my God, what did you order? We got the rolls with coriander on top. So the reason why they're cool is because I feel like most sushi places in Sydney is very traditional. It's just fish avocado. Very simple. But wish you could they add in all these different creative ingredients, which is what more Americans do. She's like.Alex Hourigan
Yeah, yeah. All right. What's your next one?Unknown Speaker
Harris farms. Oh, my God. That's what Harris farms. It's so good. Because the produce is so fresh. And you don't do self checkout. I hate self checkout. Because like, you know, when you go to woollies, and there's no one to check out your stuff. I'm not used to that. Yeah, most people are used to just doing it themselves here.Sally McMullen
Yeah. But also something always goes wrong. Yeah, every time. So it really isn't self checkout. Help me.Unknown Speaker
You have to like wait for someone to come. Yeah, fix it.Alex Hourigan
Yeah. Good. self checkout first like launch. We're like, This is amazing. Really quick. It's so easy. Whereas now I will go say person if they're there, because I'm like, Oh,Unknown Speaker
well, you got more launch. Its New YearsSally McMullen
years ago. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, in the last 10 years, I'd say. Okay, so we didn't grow up with it. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, Harris mom. I agree. Love him. Good. Hamas there.Unknown Speaker
It's very Trader Joe's. Oh, yeah.Alex Hourigan
Yeah. Want to say?Unknown Speaker
Yes. Okay. The next one is it's a little secret. But okay. Dr. Thomas Webb. I feel like every girl needs to have a good person for filler and botox. Oh, yeah.Alex Hourigan
into it. That's my little hack. So where's where are they located?Unknown Speaker
I go to the one in one cosmetic in double bay.Sally McMullen
Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. And just good results, goodUnknown Speaker
results, good prices. And just like best, like best service, you know, I want to go to someone you trust because you don't want to look like a mess for a few months. Like months. You know,Alex Hourigan
I literally had to have like my Fila dissolved in my lips because it had just like all migrated. And I was like, this is not the vibe. And then like had bruises all over my face was not cute, funny, sexy spot. But yeah, it's okay. We survived the torture over that. But yeah, it's so important to like, do your research and go to a proper, like, cosmetic nurse or doctor. Because I feel like it's probably a bit spicy to say, but I feel like everyone's got a licence to do it now. And they don't ya know what they're doing? Exactly. And you just end up getting your face backed up. Yeah. All right, so our final question of this whirlwind romance of Sydney that you've had and moving here, but what's been some of like, the biggest life lessons you've learned moving to a different country that you had never been to before? And how has that experience kind of changed you? In a way?Unknown Speaker
I think for the majority of my life, I felt very lonely. So I think coming to Sydney three weeks before locked down, and not really being able to socialise kind of really taught me how to be alone, and it's okay to be alone. And so finally, I'm like, I don't feel lonely anymore. It's crazy.Sally McMullen
I love that.Unknown Speaker
It's amazing. And like, 2020 I didn't go out of my way to make friends. I really spent time alone going on walks, you know, we all did that during lockdown. And then I think 2021 is when I kind of started socialising more making new friends. But I think because in LA I really did learn how to network and make new friends in LA. I like learned how I just kind of use those same techniques here. And so but I know how hard it is to make new friendships and in a new city, and so I started hosting mixers. This is so cute. Yeah, love. Good. So like my first one was in the beginning of October, we had it at this restaurant and 55 girls showed up, all dressed up, like no one knew each other. And now they all hang out like after the event one week later, they went to, like this event that was hosted at, you know, the city night markets. Yeah, they went to that together. And then the weekend after they got tacos, how it's really awesome. And most of the girls that were there are from Sydney, born and raised in Sydney. So it just shows that you can be lonely, even if that's the city you're from.Sally McMullen
It's hard making new friends as an adult.Alex Hourigan
Everyone says that and it really is like whether or not you're moving to a different city or you know, you kind of want to grow a little bit more outside of your friendship group or meet new people. It really is hard and people do say that Sydney is quite cliquey. Yeah, they do. Yeah. And like, I would agree with that, too. Like, I think, as well, when we've gone on that trips or holidays, it's so easy to just like turn to a table and like start chatting to them. Yeah, as I don't feel like I'd feel confident enough to do that in Sydney. Yeah, I'd probably be like, Yeah, I think it's so like, I think it can be clicky and it can be intimidating, trying to make new friends. Especially as you get older. I think that's so fun. I just met next mixer.Unknown Speaker
And the next one was go this upcoming Friday for Halloween. Okay, stunning. And then I'm hosting another one in Melbourne next month. Okay.Alex Hourigan

That's how it's spelled. SoAlex Hourigan
I don't think it was that all. I know. It was one of the dumb things I have so many things that I've like pronounced from my whole life and then people like, you good. And I'm like, No. makes a good store. I guess the people giggling likely well, thank you so much, Sofia. Next time Bacik Hi. All right, well, that is a wrap of smasher pass. We've definitely probably offended some people. But you know what?Sally McMullen
