Who offers the best price?

In a search for one-way flights between Sydney and Brisbane on a specific day, the lowest-priced flight listed on Skyscanner was $71. In the same search on Expedia, the lowest-priced flight also came out at $71.

The verdict:

Skyscanner and Expedia listed identical prices for flights on the same route but at different times of day.

Which offers a wider range of airlines?

Both offer a wide variety of airlines. On the Sydney to Brisbane route, both give customers four airlines to choose from.

What are deals like?

As Skyscanner is a travel search site, is pulls its prices from third-party websites for you to compare so deals are dependent on other websites. Expedia on the other hand is an online travel agent that lets you book flights and hotels through its service. It has relationships similar to your classic travel agent and at times can offer you better rates.

On top of your typical search, Expedia also has a dedicated deals page on its website. This section features last-minute offers, hotel rooms for $99 or less, stay-longer-and-save offers, and coupon codes for discounts on activities.

The verdict?:

Expedia runs more deals and offers across a wider range of products.
