Showpo appears to be officially launching a menswear site
Showpo announced the launch of the new site on Instagram today.
The site, called showbro.com.au, is similar to the womens site, offering trend-savvy and stylish apparel for men at affordable prices. So far we've seen from the homepage that Showbro will offer suits, ties and stylish casualwear.
CEO Jane Lu wrote about the launch on Facebook: "For the past six years, I've been hassled by so many people asking when I'm going to launch mens clothes. I brushed them off and said I'd rather sell brooms to women than menswear because my forte was marketing to women."
"Six months ago, on a night out with some of the girls from work, we thought, 'You know what, why the hell not? Let's do it.'"
"So now, I'm very proud to announce the launch of our new menswear range and store, Showbro. And to mirror our very successful workwear range, Executive Ponies, we're also launching a limited range of very affordable suits called Executive Stallions."
Menswear does seem like one of the next logical steps for a brand like Showpo. But the timing of the launch seems a little suspect. The announcement was made on 31 March, the day before April Fools' Day and Showpo is certainly no stranger to pranks.
Last year the brand pulled off an amazing prank with a video showcasing a dress that apparently changed colour. As it turned out, the video prank was actually part of a partnership with Samsung to encourage women to enrol in STEM courses – a worthy cause in our opinion.
As for Showbro, we'll have to wait and see whether or not it's legit. But for now, you can view the site here or scroll down to view pictures from Showbro's Instagram, which currently has 123 followers. Let us know in the comments whether you think it's real or not.
