The decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem has exploded in the 2020s, with blockchain users looking for new ways to earn passive income atop their cryptocurrency investments. StakeWise is an Ethereum-based entrant into the new DeFi world, with a focus on providing a seamless staking experience for ETH token holders.
A key advantage of the StakeWise platform is the ability to deposit and earn rewards atop any amount of Ethereum, as traditional ETH validation requires a minimum lock-up of 32 ETH. StakeWise also offers a public API which means their services can be ported to new decentralised applications and blockchain projects.
StakeWise lets its users participate in tokenised staking. Every time an ETH token is deposited into the StakeWise pool, the platform mints sETH2 (which represents a user’s contribution to the pool 1:1) and rETH2 (which represents a user’s rewards from the pool 1:1). These sETH tokens can then be used to earn additional rewards, by using them in liquidity pools on other DeFi platforms such as UniSwap.
