We’re reader-supported and may be paid when you visit links to partner sites. We don’t compare all products in the market, but we’re working on it!
Plumbers, photographers, bloggers, birthday card makers… everybody needs a website in today's digital world. Ultimately, a website helps your business to connect with a wider audience, all whilst advertising your products and services and hopefully generating new leads.
Nowadays, building a website for your business is easy. The hard bit is choosing the right platform to build it on. That's why we've compiled everything you need to know about Squarespace, so you can make an informed decision as to whether it's the right platform for you.
What is Squarespace?
Squarespace is an easy-to-use website building platform. Highly praised for its user-friendly drag-and-drop interface along with its selection of high-quality templates and customisations options, Squarespace allows even the most novice of users to create a professional website in just a few hours. It's seamlessly designed to work for anyone looking for hassle-free marketing, blogging, eCommerce or portfolio space and, ideal for when your business begins to grow, it's built with scalability in mind.
How to use Squarespace for your business
By designing the platform to be super user-friendly, Squarespace makes it quick and easy for businesses to promote their services across the web. Heres how.
- Artificial Design Intelligence technology and easy drag-and-drop tools mean you can have a website up and running for your business in just a few hours.
- Excellent E-Commerce functionality and easily scaleable features allow your website to grow at the same rate as your business.
- Multiple SEO capabilities are integrated into the platform so you can be discovered by the right people in search engines. These include meta titles and descriptions, custom URLs and alt tags.
- Websites are supported by AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) and are optimised for the fastest mobile web browsing. Ultimately, this means that potential customers can browse your website using a mobile, tablet or laptop.
Squarespace pricing and subscription options
Squarespace offers competitive pricing and even cheaper prices if you choose to pay annually, rather than monthly. There's no free plan on offer, but it's easy to sign-up for a 14-day free trial (no credit card needed!) before you commit to one of these paid subscription options.
At $16/month, this is the cheapest of Squarespace's pricing plans. With no restrictions on storage or bandwidth, but also no E-commerce capabilities, this is a good option for website owners who are looking for a simple and sleek design with high functionality.
If you need some sort of E-commerce service, you'll have to fork out a little extra ($25/month) for the business plan. Within this plan, you can sell unlimited products and design promotional pop-ups for your website. Unfortunately, each purchase will incur a 3% transaction fee.
Basic Commerce Plan
Those looking to build up an online store should consider spending $34/month on the Basic Commerce Plan. With the transaction fee nowhere insight, you'll be able to sell unlimited products, add gift cards and customer accounts to your store, and integrate other online programs into your store, like PayPal.
Advanced Commerce Plan
Does the future look bright for your E-commerce business? Then this $52/month, flexible and scalable commerce plan is for you. Along with all of the features in the Basic Commerce Plan, users will be able to add repeat subscription options, flexible discount promos and real-time shipping rates to their store.
