Scoot sale: from Australia to Athens for just $369

Peter Terlato 16 August 2016

Get your Greek on with dirt cheap fares to Europe.

Greasy gyros, balmy beaches, ancient cities, oodles of Ouzo and exciting islands! If this sounds tempting, don't miss out on Scoot's first foray into Europe during its latest sale.

Singapore Airlines' subsidiary Scoot is offering Aussies a chance to fly to Europe for next to nothing. Fares from Perth to Athens, via Singapore, start at just $369 one-way, while flights from other major cities including Sydney, the Gold Coast and Melbourne are $419 one-way.

While these economy class fares are a great deal, ScootBiz takes it a step further. You get double the leg room, 30kg of checked luggage allowance, a welcome drink and one additional alcoholic beverage, a variety of meal choices, priority check-in & boarding, in-seat power outlets and ScooTV streaming options.

ScootBiz fares start at just $1099 one-way from Perth to Athens.

Available travel dates are between June 2017 and March 2018, ideal for European summer jaunts and Christmas/New Year holidays.

Australian passengers booking through Scoot's website can enter promo code GREEKON to get up to $20 off selected FLYBAG & FLYBAGEAT fares.

These prices echo fellow Southeast Asian budget carrier AirAsia X's years-gone cheap fares from Kuala Lumpur to London. The service, incredibly popular among Australian travellers, was canned in 2012 due to the high cost of fuel needed to power the airline's A340s, which operated the route.

However, from 2018 the Malaysian carrier will take delivery of 66 new Airbus A330neo aircraft and will likely reboot the route, AirAsiaX CEO Benyamin Ismail told The Australian last month.
