Clippers, Lakers, Mavericks, Nets and Nuggets dominate the SBS January NBA schedule.

As the calendar ticks over from 2019 to 2020, the NBA only heats up more. We can start to get a read on who the contenders and pretenders are. That's why the SBS January schedule for the NBA is going to be key.

As we noticed when comparing the November and December SBS NBA fixtures there were changes in days. They had deviated from every Saturday and Sunday to include a fair few Monday games.

This time SBS has mixed it up again and will only be showing one Saturday game through the month of January. Maybe it's to avoid going head to head with the Big Bash League and avoid the NBA games on ESPN?

January SBS NBA schedule preview

Not only is it a battle of LA between the Clippers and Lakers in the NBA this year, but also on SBS. The two teams have featured heavily on SBS's broadcast and will continue to do so with two games apiece in January.

In particular the Clippers' first game against the Denver Nuggets on 13 January should be a great Western Conference contender showdown. Elsewhere Dallas also have two games. No doubt it's to do with the play of rising star Luka Doncic.

Fans will have to hope that Doncic recovers from his ankle injury in time. While we know that Boxing Day is one for Australian sports fans to have their eyes on, Australia Day also offers up something.

So it's only fitting that SBS will feature the Utah Jazz on Australia Day. The Jazz have two Australians on their roster in Joe Ingles and Dante Exum.
