Brr, it's cold in here! Winter is here and that means it's time to invest in some warm woollies. Essentials for the cooler months (like jeans, flannel PJs and jackets) can be expensive, but they don't have to be.

Luckily, scouring the Internet for the best deals sparks great joy within us. So to save you time and money, we've rounded up five winter must-haves and where you can add them to your cart, whether you want to save, spend or splash. All of the goodies listed are available through humm, which means you can stretch your budget even further by adding to cart now and paying it off later.

1. Winter pyjamas

Winter is good for one thing and one thing only: curling up in a pair of PJs. Peter Alexander is my absolute go-to and I own more pairs of their jammies than any person should. Although they're a little pricier than other sleepwear, I can vouch for the fact that they're excellent quality and will last you many, many winters.

SAVE: Bunny on a cloud set | $109

Everyone needs a pair of flannel bunny PJs in their rotation. These babies are actually made from bamboo flannelette, which is breathable and perf for mild Australian winters.

SPEND: Doggo PJ set | $119

This PJ set is made from soft organic cotton and dyes, so you can sleep soundly knowing it's certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard. It's a cosy ribbed material and has a classic henley button-down style, which is also an airy fabric in case you're a bit of a sweaty sleeper.

SPLASH: Silk PJ and eye mask set | $349

You'll be living your rich bish fantasy in this 100% Mulberry Silk PJ set. We're vibing with this regal navy blue colour but they're also available in emerald green and dusty pink. It comes with a matching eye mask too, which is super chic and is bound to have you sleeping like a baby in no time.

And yes, silk is more than a little spendy, but these silk PJs will last for years and will feel like actual heaven on your skin, so consider them an investment piece that you can enjoy night after night.

2. Black jeans

Black jeans are a timeless wardrobe staple no matter the season. But by now you've probably heard that skinny jeans are officially passé. So we've done you a solid and rounded up a bunch of high waisted mom jeans that you can introduce to your wardrobe, no matter what your budget is.

SAVE: INSIGHT Robin Relaxed Straight Jean | $109.95

The Robin Relaxed Straight Jean from INSIGHT couple baggy straight legs with a flattering high waist. They're 100% cotton, which means they'll stretch a little as you wear them. Plenty of jeans come with rips in the knee, but I am obsessed with the thigh rip on these. Between that and the faded black wash, they have a timeless vintage feel that I love.

SPEND: Abrand A Slouch jeans | $129.95

Abrand is one of my go-tos for comfy, good quality and trendy denim at a good price point. The Slouch jeans are also 100% cotton with a mid-rise fit. Jeans always look a little cooler when they're worn in, which you get straight away with the 90s-inspired stone wash. They're also a bit baggy, so you might want to size down if you want them to sit snatched on your waist.

SPLASH: Lee High Rise baggy jeans | $169.95

Another iconic denim brand, you can never go wrong with a pair of Lee jeans. They specialise in classic and good quality styles that should last you years. They're also 100% cotton and high-waisted, so they're bound to be comfy. The High Rise baggy jeans are a little roomier in the legs and have rips across both knees if that's your thang.

3. Gold necklace

Now it's time for the bling! Gold necklaces are another classic staple that everyone should have in their jewellery box. However, they've also been in vogue over the last few years and it looks like it's going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

SAVE: Reliquia Levy Necklace | $130

With a knack for bold, sculptural and on-trend pieces with a reasonable price tag, I am a huge fan of Reliquia. The dainty Levy Necklace is a timeless piece that would be perfect to layer or rock on its own. It's made of 18kt gold-plated sterling silver, so it's a fab way to get the gold chain look for less.

SPEND: Sarah and Sebastian Triangle Thread Necklace | $290

Australian jewellery label Sarah and Sebastian specialise in classic pieces that combine traditional craftsmanship with unique designs. This 10kt yellow gold Triangle Thread necklace is another fine chain that you could layer with other pieces or wear on its own.

SPLASH: Sarah and Sebastian Nymph Diamond Necklace | $425

I am in love with this subtle but gorge piece from Sarah and Sebastian. It's also 10kt gold, but it's a little pricier because of the wing cluster pendant set with Australian marquise opal cabochons and a melee diamond. I mean c'mon – it's just stunning. And it's a classic piece that won't date, which means you can wear it forever.

4. Comfy jumper

In a surprise to probably no one, our love affair with loungewear is going strong. We have a soft spot for Champion crewnecks because they combine classic shapes with on-trend colours and prints. With no shortage of cute and comfy jumpers, we've handpicked a few depending on how much you want to fork out.

SAVE: Champion Script Crew | $64.99

Not only is this fleece crewneck super cosy, but it's also super versatile. Chuck it on over your gym gear or dress it up with jeans and boots for a brunch date with the gals. It comes in a few different colours, but pastels are having a moment right now and this cute lilac shade is to die for.

SPEND: Reverse Weave French Terry Cropped Crew | $99.95

Rather than tucking in a bulky jumper, this cropped crew is perf to pop on if you're wearing high-waisted jeans or leggings. I'm also digging the raw edge of the crop, which is a cool twist on the classic crewneck.

SPLASH: Reverse Weave Ombre Relaxed Crew | $119.95

Last year's tie-dye trend is still kicking and this dip-dye ombre design takes it to the next level. It's made of heavyweight fleece, so it'll keep you nice and snuggly as the weather cools down.

5. Denim jacket

A denim jacket is another item that you should have in your regular rotation all year round. I personally love an oversized boyfriend jacket fit. Not only is it comfy, but they're also great for layering with hoodies or sweaters. To be honest, most of our denim jacket picks are pretty reasonably priced but we've still got a couple of options for ya.

SAVE: The Oversized Denim Jacket | $59.99

The subtle acid wash and oversized fit of this denim jacket is giving us 80s throwbacks. If you're after the boyfriend jacket look, you can always go up a size or two as well.

SPEND: Supre Oversized Denim Jacket | $65.00

This 100% cotton jacket has a cool baggy and longline fit that is super flattering. I'm loving the light blue fade and distressed detail on the bottom hem that's giving me big 90s vibes.

SPLASH: The Denim Shacket | $69.99

I love a 2-in-1 fashion moment and a shacket is exactly that. Button it up and tuck the front into blue jeans for a Candian Tuxedo moment or throw it on over a dress for a fab trans-seasonal piece.

No matter what budget you're working with, you can shop all of these threads (plus a bunch more from heaps of retailers) and pay them off in interest-free instalments with humm.

These are just some the essentials we're stocking up on this winter, but you can check out roundup of winter trends to rock in 2021 for more inspo.
