Save 15% when you buy Velocity Points this month
Redeem your next reward sooner with this Velocity Points Booster.
Twice a year, Virgin Australia’s Velocity frequent flyers can purchase points to give their points balance a boost. Although this is always an easy way to pick up some extra points, you can save 15% off the total cost if you buy your Velocity Points by 30 April 2018.
You can only purchase up to 50% of your Velocity Points balance. So if you have 60,000 Velocity Points, you can only buy 30,000 points. You can purchase a minimum of 500 Velocity Points and a maximum of 50,000 points in a single transaction. This also means that you need a minimum of 1,000 points in your account to buy points and enjoy this 15% discount.
To give you an idea of how much the points will set you back and how much you can save, you can compare a few examples below.
Number of points | Standard cost | 15% discount cost | Value of each point |
---|---|---|---|
500 | $18 | $15.31 | $0.03 |
1,000 | $36 | $30.60 | $0.03 |
5,000 | $168 | $142.80 | $0.03 |
10,000 | $325 | $276.25 | $0.03 |

Remember that even with a credit card that had a competitive earn rate of 1 Velocity Point per $1, you’d usually need to spend $500 to even earn the minimum 500 points. Considering this will set you back $15.30 while this promotional offer is in place, it could be worth topping up your Velocity balance while this offer runs to get more points for less.
However, as you can see in the table, the individual value of a point will vary depending how many points you’re purchasing. So you might want to keep this in mind when you’re deciding how many points you may want to buy.
To take advantage of the deal, visit the Velocity website and select a category that you’d like to use your points on (such as flights with Virgin Australia and partners, flight upgrades, Virgin Australia holidays and accommodation). Then you can click "Buy Velocity Points" and log in using your Velocity number and password.
Although buying points isn’t usually the best way to build up your Velocity Points balance, this 15% offer is one way you can get more points for less.
