Lufthansa: Singapore-Munich

Thai AirAsia (TAA): Bangkok-Malé

When does it launch? 11 August 2017
How often does it fly? Daily services
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on this route? Bangkok Airways and Maldivian both fly this route direct. However neither offer a daily service.
Anything else I need to know? Travel time is approximately 4 hours, 15 minutes


EgyptAir: Cairo-Tokyo Narita

When does it launch? 29 October 2017
How often does it fly? 1 weekly service
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on this route? No competitors operate direct flights
Anything else I need to know? Travel time is approximately 11 hours, 50 minutes


Vietnam Airlines: Ho Chi Minh City-Nanning

When does it launch? 5 July 2017
How often does it fly? 1 weekly service
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on this route? Sichuan Airlines
Anything else I need to know? Travel time is approximately 2 hours, 10 minutes. Other new routes available from Vietnam Airlines in June/July include Cam Ranh/Nha Trang to Changzhou and Da Nang to Lanzhou.


Norwegian: Edinburgh-New York (Stewart International Airport)

When did it launch? 15 June 2017
How often does it fly? Daily services
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on this route? American Airlines, Finnair, Iberia, United Airlines, Lufthansa, Virgin America, British Airways and Delta Air Lines
Anything else I need to know? Travel time is approximately 7 hours, 35 minutes. Other new routes launched last week include Edinburgh-Providence, Rhode Island and Edinburgh-Hartford, Connecticut.


Malaysia Airlines cancels direct flights between Darwin and Kuala Lumpur

According to Australian Business Traveller, as of 27 July, direct flights between Darwin and Kuala Lumpur will cease. An official statement is expected to be released by Malaysia Airlines soon.


Tigerair Taiwan increases Macau flight frequency

From 1-31 July, Tigerair Taiwan will operate 34 weekly services between Taiwan and Macau. This will decrease to 31 weekly services from 1-30 August 2017.


Tigerair Singapore swallowed up by Scoot

On 25 July 2017, Tigerair Singapore will be rebranded as Scoot. As part of this rebrand, Scoot flights will adopt TR-coded flight numbers.
