Scoot: Singapore-Kuching

When does it launch? October 2017
How often does it fly? Daily
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and SilkAir
Anything else I need to know? These flights are part of the Singaporean low-cost carrier's recently announced route expansion. These new routes are in addition to the adoption of Tigerair Singapore's entire network following Scoot's absorption of the brand, bringing the airline's total destination count to 65 by mid-2018.


Norwegian: London-New York City

When does it launch? August 2017
How often does it fly? Twice daily
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? British Airways, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines and Air India
Anything else I need to know? This additional daily flight departs London Gatwick in the morning and arrives at John F Kennedy airport at 9:00am. Travellers can spend the day exploring the city before returning on the 11:00pm "red eye" from JFK, landing back at London Gatwick the following day – ideal for a weekend break.


WestJet: Calgary-Denver

When does it launch? March 2018
How often does it fly? Daily
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? United Air Lines
Anything else I need to know? The new service will depart Calgary at 10:10am and return to the city at 3:46pm.


Malaysia Airlines: Kuala Lumpur–Chongqing

When does it launch? October 2017
How often does it fly? Three times weekly
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? AirAsia X
Anything else I need to know? These flights are part of Malaysia Airlines's rapid expansion plans into China, which were announced late last year. The routes are expected to help attract Chinese visitors to the Southeast Asian nation.


Thai AirAsia: Bangkok-Jaipur and Tiruchirappalli

When does it launch? September 2017
How often does it fly? Four times weekly
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? Thai Smile (Jaipur)
Anything else I need to know? Thai AirAsia already has direct flights to Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi and Kolkata. These new flights offer convenient travel options for Indian tourists visiting Thailand and surrounding regions.


Aerolineas Argentinas and Etihad now codesharing

Aerolineas Argentinas and Etihad Airways have agreed to a reciprocal codeshare partnership covering services between Argentina and the United Arab Emirates. The agreement is effective mid-August.

Aerolineas Argentinas will codeshare on Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi to Madrid and Rome.

Etihad will codeshare on Aerolineas Argentinas flights from Buenos Aires Ezeiza to Cordoba, Iguazu, Madrid, Mar del Plata, Mendoza, Rome, Rosario, Salta, San Carlos de Bariloche, Trelew and Ushuaia.


Singapore Airlines to codeshare with Colombian carrier Avianca

An agreement has been signed between Singapore Airlines and Colombian flag carrier Avianca to codeshare on each other's flights, effective September 2017.

Singapore Airlines will add its code (SQ) to Avianca-operated flights from the carrier's European gateways at Barcelona and London to Bogotá. In return, Avianca will add its code (AV) to Singapore Airlines flights between these European destinations and Singapore. Flights will be made available across both airline's websites and sale platforms progressively.
