Ryanair: Rome-Tel Aviv

When does it launch? October 2017
How often does it fly? Daily
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? Vueling, Alitalia and El Al
Anything else I need to know? These new flights are part of the low-cost carrier's winter 2017/18 season expansion into Israel.


Jetstar Singapore: Singapore-Okinawa

When does it launch? November 2017
How often does it fly? Three times weekly
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? No competitors operate direct flights on this route
Anything else I need to know? The budget airline will utilise an Airbus A320 on the route. Reservations for this route opened last week, with sale fares from SGD$119 one-way.


easyJet: Edinburgh-Sofia

When does it launch? December 2017
How often does it fly? Twice weekly
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? No competitors operate direct flights on this route
Anything else I need to know? These flights are an addition to the airline's 2017/18 winter season schedule. An Airbus A320 aircraft will service this route.


SilkAir: Singapore-Hiroshima

When does it launch? October 2017
How often does it fly? Three times weekly
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? No competitors operate direct flights on this route
Anything else I need to know? Singapore Airlines previously served Hiroshima with a Boeing 777 non-direct service, stopping in Fukuoka, two to four times per week until April 2003. A Boeing 737-800 aircraft will fly the new route, with fares from SGD$514.


British Airways: London-Tennessee

When does it launch? May 2018
How often does it fly? Five times weekly
Where is the stopover? Non-stop, direct
Who else competes on that route? No competitors operate direct flights on this route
Anything else I need to know? Flights will be operated on the Boeing 787-8 and return fares start at £749. They will depart Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from London at 3:45pm and arrive in Nashville at 6:50pm. The return leg will depart Nashville at 8:20pm and arrive in London at 10:30am the following day.


Fiji Airways codesharing with Hong Kong Airlines

Fiji Airways and Hong Kong Airlines entered into a codesharing partnership from 3 August 2017. This agreement covers flights between Hong Kong and Fiji, plus additional routes beyond. Hong Kong Airlines will codeshare on Fiji Airways flights between Nadi-Hong Kong and Nadi-Auckland.

From late August, Fiji Airways will codeshare on Hong Kong Airlines services between Hong Kong-Bangkok, Hong Kong-Osaka Kansai and Hong Kong-Tokyo Narita.


China Southern expands flights to Adelaide

As part of its 2017/2018 northern winter season schedule, China Southern Airlines will increase the number of services it operates between Guangzhou and Adelaide. The Chinese carrier will add two additional flights to the route during peak season, from 10 December 2017 until 26 February 2018. An Airbus A330-300 will replace the A330-200 from 29 October 2017.

The route is currently served three times per week. The additional flights will make it five times weekly.
