How to get Rio Olympics tickets from as little as $24.24

The cheap last minute tickets you can still snap up for the Rio Summer Games.

The 2016 Rio Olympics are on from 5–21 August 2016, and if you think you’ve missed the boat on snapping up some tickets to the much anticipated event, you’re wrong. Tickets are very much still up for grabs - even this close to the event date - and if you look in the right places, you can snap them up for a fraction of the selling price.

How do you get last-minute cheap tickets to the Rio Olympics?

Although tickets can still be purchased from the official Rio Olympics website, for a bargain, the place to look is resale sites. At the time of writing (12 July 2016) Viagogo is offering tickets to over 650 events throughout the Games with prices starting from as little as $24.24 (hockey). While eBay doesn’t have as many tickets available, you can still find a bargain there too. We found tickets for Wrestling Freestyle WF007 for $40.

Opening ceremonies tickets are also available from Viagogo from $551.19

Rio Olympics events

Different sporting events occur throughout the Rio Olympics with medal events scheduled from Day 2. At the time of writing (12 July 2016) it has been confirmed that we are sending 344 of our athletes to the Games to compete in 24 sports including athletics, basketball, golf, swimming, tennis, hockey and shooting.

Tipped to take out a medal this year for Australia are our canoeing/rowing teams, which include Beijing K1 champ Ken Wallace and London silver medallist Jessica Fox, our hockey team The Kookaburras, both our male and female rugby teams, our triathlon athletes and our women’s water polo team.
