It's been a hot minute since we've seen flights on sale from Rex; the airline has been quiet while COVID-19 lockdowns impacted regional and interstate travel.
With Virgin Australia and Jetstar focused on international destinations, you can count on Rex to focus on low prices within Australia.
The airline plans to reopen its domestic network from 15 November. Not only that, in an unprecedented move, its "Reconnect sale" has no Christmas blackout period. That means flights right through the Christmas period are on sale too.
The cheapest flights on sale are from Melbourne to Sydney and Melbourne to Canberra with both routes starting from $69 one way.

"The resumption of our flights will provide a much-needed boost to capital city and regional economies alike, help re-connect friends and families and allow Christmas holidays to be booked with confidence," Rex deputy chairman John Sharp said.
Travel dates include 14 November 2021 through to 30 April 2022. Remember that's with no blackout dates for Christmas on any of the routes on sale.

How good are these Rex sale fares?
Rex has come out swinging, and as we expected, competitor Virgin Australia has matched prices. At $69, these Melbourne-Canberra December fares are just over 50% cheaper than the lowest prices Qantas has for the route at $142 (as compared with KAYAK). That's a huge saving, especially at Christmas time.
For $69 you'll get a better deal with Rex which, unlike Virgin, is a full-service airline.
