Air New Zealand 787 Business Class Overview

Enjoy privacy, luxury and reclinable seats in Business Premier class on the Air New Zealand 787.

From your pre-flight experience to in-flight comfort, seating configuration, entertainment and dining, here’s what you can expect when you fly in business class on the Air New Zealand 787.

Pre-flight privileges

If you’ve got a Business Premier ticket you can also look forward to a generous baggage allowance. You can bring two pieces of carry-on luggage which can be up to 7kg each. You can then check in three pieces of luggage with a limit of 23kg each. You can also enjoy a more convenient pre-flight experience thanks to premium check-in and priority boarding.

If you have time to kill at the airport, you can wait in style in one of Air New Zealand’s lounges. Air New Zealand has international lounges in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Nadi and Rarotonga. If you’re departing from Australia you can also visit Air New Zealand lounges in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. As Air New Zealand belongs to the Star Alliance, you may also be able to visit Star Alliance lounges if you’re flying business class with Air NZ that day.

Frequent flyer perks

If you belong to the Air New Zealand Airpoints frequent flyer program, you can earn Airpoints Dollars every time you fly with the airline and its participating partners. You can also earn Status Points when you fly with Air New Zealand, which go towards upgrading your membership tier status and giving you access to more benefits (such as lounge access, extra baggage allowance and cabin upgrades). Plus if you’re booking a Business Premier flight you can expect a higher earn rate than if you were flying in Premium Economy or Economy.

For example, if you were flying from Auckland to Sydney in Business Premier you could collect between 40.10 and 71.00 Airpoints Dollars plus 60 to 107 Status Points. If you were taking the same flight in Premium Economy you’d only earn between 14.10 and 38.10 Airpoints or 33 to 77 Status Points. So flying Business Premier offers more rewards, which could help you save on future travel.

You can use the Airpoints calculator on the Air New Zealand website to work out the number of points you’ll earn on your specific flight.

Space and seating

There are 18 seats available in Business Premier. These are arranged in a 1-1-1 layout in six rows and are positioned at an angle so everyone has easy access to the aisle. This allows for greater privacy and is unique compared to the 1-2-1 layout used by many other business class offerings.

You have access to a fully lie-flat bed, with a separate memory-foam mattress, two pillows and a duvet for extra comfort. The seat width is 55.88cm wide while upright. When folded down into bed mode it’s 84cm wide and 200cm long.

Amenities

Upon boarding you will receive an amenity kit with deluxe toiletries, such as an eyemask, mouthwash, earplugs, moisturiser, toothbrush, toothpaste, funky socks and a lovely small bag to put them in. You also receive complimentary bottled water at your seat.
