The cream highlighter you need to achieve the goddess glow of your dreams.

My makeup routine consists of a full-coverage base with plenty of powder to set it all in. I love blush, bronzer and highlighter – all in powder forms. I could spend hours wandering the aisles of Sephora and MECCA.
I am not the type of beauty lover to experiment with cream products. And I've never exactly been one to deliberately seek out natural cosmetics.
Ere Perez Natural Cosmetics is branded as a sustainable and ethical beauty company and it's making waves in the makeup community. All of its products are made of only natural ingredients and I recently got the chance to try the brand's Vanilla Highlighter.
I was a little sceptical at first when I read the words "natural balm". As mentioned, I don't really work with cream products - unless I am in the mood to cream contour. But, this cream highlighter is a little gem and I was surprised by how much I loved this glowy product.
The Ere Perez Vanilla Highlighter comes in two shades. I used the shade Falling Star which is a mix between a champagne and rose gold. The colour really reminds me of MAC Cosmetics Mineralise Skin Finish in the shade Soft & Gentle. So if you like that shade of highlighter, you will love this natural balm version.

The Vanilla Highlighter is also available in another shade that is suited better for deeper skin tones called Sun Halo. I haven't tried this shade personally but from swatches online, I can see there is a deep golden tone to it.
My experience using the Ere Perez Vanilla Highlighter
The highlighter comes in a screw-top package and it is formulated to a smooth and creamy consistency. I personally applied it to bare skin and then again over the top of my normal powder situation.
From previous experience, sometimes cream products don't work when applied over powder. They can disturb the powder base that I just spent 30 minutes perfecting. But if you use a light hand, this natural balm blends over powder effortlessly - without affecting your base. And a light touch means you use less product so you get more bang for your buck.
Ere Perez recommends using its multipurpose brush to apply the product, but I think it works just as well with my fingers. The warmth from my skin helps to really push the product into my skin.
Ladies and gents, let me tell you about the smell. It's branded as the Vanilla Highlighter for a reason. It smells delightful and I found it to be calming and relaxing. Of course, if you don't like a vanilla scent then you won't like it. But don't stress, it's not overpowering to the point where your face smells like a bakery.
This is one of those makeup products where the ingredients are worth talking about too. There is nothing nasty in this highlighter, its all just skin-loving, natural goodies.
My personal favourites are:
- Grape seed oil - Full of antioxidants and vitamins, it works to reduce wrinkles and scars and tighten the skin.
- Avocado oil - Rich in vitamins A, D and E which all help to nourish the skin.
- Olive oil - Naturally formulated with antioxidants and mono-saturated fats.
- Candelilla Wax - Derived from a plant in Mexico, this wax is the ultimate moisturising ingredient.

All in all, I really enjoyed using the Ere Perez Vanilla Highlighter. I loved the way it looked on my skin and its versatility. It could be used on any part of the body to make you glow like the gods AND it could be used on a bare face, a natural makeup day or used for something a little more glam.
The one thing I disliked about this product was the packaging. The glass container with a white lid is simple and classy but there is something about an open tub of product I just don't like. Having to stick my finger in and out of the highlighter was not my cup of tea. I prefer my makeup to be packaged into a pump or tube – anything to stop bacteria from getting into my makeup. The product is great but if I could, I would change the packaging.
