The Request Network, or Request for short, is an Ethereum-based decentralised payment application designed to allow users to request payments and receive them via fast and secure means. According to the website, the network seeks to become the world’s first decentralised network for payment requests, removing the need for third-party solutions, such as PayPal. On top of providing the capability for quick request payments, Request also offers users accurate auditing and accounting services. As a result, Request is aiming to dominate the entire payment life cycle from invoicing to accounting. REQ is the native cryptocurrency of the Request Network. It is an ERC-20 standard token that was launched in 2017 to ensure the performance and stability of the Request Network. The token can be used to pay for fees on the Request Network, as an intermediary for cross-currency exchange and for creating more advanced invoices and extensions. It is also the platform’s governance token.
