What are reference apps for smartwatch?
Whether it is looking up the capital city of a far off land or where you can find the best cheeseburger within a five minute walk, smart devices have changed the way we interact with information. While some argue that it is for the worse, and that people no longer retain knowledge as well as they might have done in the past, it’s hard to see how it doesn’t make life easier at almost every turn.
The apps that provide these invaluable services are mostly clumped into the category of ‘reference’ apps. It should have been named the “Finding awesome stuff” apps, but that wouldn’t look as neat in the app store. Still, one of the best things about the smartwatches is that they will bring reference apps closer to you and work hard so that you don’t have to. Who could argue with that?

Frequently asked questions
Will my smartwatch make me smarter?
That depends on two things. Firstly, how you define smart and secondly, how you use your smartwatch. There is no doubt that if you use it to learn a new language, to educate yourself about world politics and play extensive brain trainer games, then yes, it could make you smarter. If you use it to play Flopsy Droid from the beginning for the third time, then it probably won’t help much I’m afraid.
Are smartwatch reference apps free to download?
Some are and some aren’t. Check on the relevant app store for information about pricing of each app you want to buy.
Should I really cheat on the pub quiz?
finder.com.au does not encourage cheating on pub quizzes, in fact, it actively discourages it.
