Beauty product of the week: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
This foundation brush is the one that I just keep coming back to.
Why we love this product
Using good quality makeup brushes is just as important as using good quality products. And when you finally find that perfect, good quality makeup brush, it will change the way you feel about your makeup altogether.
That's how I felt the first time I used the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. Sceptical of beauty sponges and disliking any brush I'd tried, I spent most of my foundation wearing years applying it with my fingers. Yes, I wasted a lot of product on my hands but at least I was left with a streak-free application that felt light. Many of the other brushes I'd tried always seemed to leave me feeling heavy and cakey.
I received the Expert Face Brush as part of a media send out about two years ago. I'd heard a few people talk about how good it was so I decided to give it a try and to this day I rarely put it down.
For me, this is the ultimate foundation brush. It provides the most even and blended finish of any brush I've ever tried. I hate heavy looking makeup and prefer my makeup to look as if it is part of my skin – and this is the look that the Real Techniques brush provides. After just a few seconds of buffing, most foundations blend seamlessly into your skin, giving a truly natural-looking finish.
Of course, since the time I first tried the Real Techniques brushes, I have been given and bought others. I've tried some by real goodies by Zoeva, Hourglass and Stila. But at the end of the day, the Real Techniques brush is the only brush I just keep coming back to. It makes average foundations look good and it makes great foundations really shine.
I even prefer to use this brush for cream contour blending over actual contour brushes. I find it makes the darker contour shades blend in more effortlessly than other brushes, leaving me feeling more sculpted and less like I've just drawn lines on my face.
If you're on the hunt for a go-to foundation brush, this is the one I will always recommend. I've even bought it a few times as a gift for friends!
Affordability
At $22.99 this is not as cheap as most drugstore products, you'll definitely find cheaper ones. But it is a heck of a lot cheaper than most high-end products and it will out perform many of them, too. So for around 20 bucks, this brush is a no brainer.
