How to use a RAT kit
If you're unsure how RAT kits work, or would like a reminder, NSW Health has produced a generic video to help out. It's important to remember, however, that instructions will vary from brand to brand.
RAT rules in ACT
The ACT government officially recommends PCR tests for people with COVID symptoms and children under the age of 2. If you test positive on a RAT, you must register your result on this form. If you return a positive result, you must isolate for at least 7 days. ACT Health will contact you to let you know when you can leave isolation.
If you are a close contact, you must perform a RAT or PCR test. If you test negative, you must isolate for the 7 days after your last exposure, and take another test on or after day 6.
Free rapid antigen tests Canberra and ACT
Certain ACT residents are eligible to claim free RATs. You're eligible for this scheme if you hold one of the following concession cards:
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
- Health Care Card
- Low Income Health Care Card
- Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold, White or Orange card.
If you hold one of these cards, you can head to a participating community pharmacy and collect a maximum of 5 tests in 1 month or 10 tests in 3 months.
