RadioApp lets you listen to every major Australian radio station

All of Australia’s largest radio broadcasters are now available through one single app.

Listening to the radio via your phone has been a feature of some handsets due to the inclusion of AM or FM tuners, or, in the case of the LG Stylus DAB+ phone, via digital radio. However, the ability to finely tune into one station from just a single app has been about as reliable as getting a proper AM signal while driving through a long tunnel. It’s especially problematic if you’re a radio listener who travels frequently, because while many stations offer streaming broadcasts and some stations have launched apps, you've needed a separate app for every station.

That changed with the launch late last week of RadioApp, an application that brings together the largest of Australia’s radio stations in a single app. Live listening is of course the centrepiece of the app, but that's bolstered with a number of listener-friendly features, including three-position preference sliders for your preferred radio genres, quick swiping to find new stations and the ability to buy tracks as you’re listening to them. RadioApp also supports Apple Watch for quick station skipping, as well as location awareness via GPS to suggest the local stations as you pass through an area.

It’s not quite a one-stop shop for every single Australian radio service (no sign of community radio here), but it’s fairly comprehensive if you tend to stick to the major commercial players or ABC radio services.

RadioApp is a free download for Android and iOS platforms, and is available now.
