Quicko review: Not the quickest, but it has great customer service
Quick verdict: Ironically, Quicko isn’t the quickest grocery delivery service app out there, but it has customer service and charm.

Quicko is one of the latest instant grocery delivery apps that have popped up during the pandemic. If you're not familiar, these apps allow you to have groceries and household delivery items delivered to you very quickly – in some cases, within just 10–15 minutes.
In Quicko's case, it's within a couple of hours. While this technically makes it one of the slower options currently available in applicable areas, it still does a great job. And there is 1 thing that sets it apart – a personal touch.
Despite the name, Quicko is one of the slower instant delivery service options out there. And by that I mean it delivers within about 2 hours of when you place the order.
Compared to something like Coles or Woolworths online, where you have to wait a day or 2 (or pay about $15 for 2-hour delivery in Woolworth's case), this is still great.
But if we were to split hairs, it's long compared to the 10–15 minutes of delivery time offered by the likes of MILKRUN and VOLY.
That being said, customer service is king regarding Quicko. It doesn't rely as heavily on push notifications as some of its competitors like VOLY, MILKRUN and UberEats. And perhaps it could use a little bit more of that from a modern perspective.
Still, what I was super impressed with was the personal communication.
One of the items I ordered wasn't in stock, which I discovered after a personal text message from the rider. They asked if I would prefer to swap it for something else or get a refund. I liked this because it added a personal touch and an option.
Comparatively, other delivery services such as UberEats will simply send you a push notification letting you know something is out of stock and that you'll get a refund. In fact, you're unlikely to know what is missing until the order arrives.
Sure, it's not the most scalable or automated solution, but I felt looked after the most with Quicko.
I was also impressed by the delivery person, who brought the goods up to the office and was super friendly and generous with the banter.
Quicko item range
Much like similar service, Quicko has quite a robust range if you need to top up some essentials for your home or pantry. Got some people coming over in a few hours but don't have time to clean and run to the shops? Quicko has you covered.
Quicko's range has everything from groceries, snacks and cleaning products to drinks, health and beauty and pet items. While it won't entirely replace your weekly shop, I didn't feel like it was missing any key items either.
Quicko fees and prices
Quicko is somewhat let down by its delivery fee. In the Sydney CBD it was $5.99, making it about 3 times more expensive than UberEats and VOLY. However, it does offer free delivery over $50, which may be worth considering. For comparison, MILKRUN offers free delivery over $30.
Fortunately, its actual item pricing is decent compared to its competitors. For example, a 2-litre milk was $3.14. On MILKRUN it was $3.40 and with VOLY it was $3.50. Of course, it's worth keeping in mind this varies depending on the brands available at the time.
Still, it didn't seem like there was an big price hike whacked on top of the items to skim extra cash off the top. Perhaps you don't need to when the delivery price is that high.
How to use the Quicko app
The Quicko app is super easy to use. The UI is intuitive and offers categories (pantry, health and beauty, freezer, etc.) as well as clearly marked deals.
You can also access your personal details, past orders and the contact section of the app.
Should you use Quicko?
- Use it if you need to grab some items last minute and want a wide range of options for your home and pantry.
- Don't use it if you want something super last minute or want to save on the delivery fee.
While Quicko isn't the quickest or cheapest option in this emerging market, it's still quite good. Hell, compared to the delivery prices and times that giants like Woolworths and Coles are offering, it's great.
It has a large range of items, a well-designed app, delivery within a couple of hours and personal touch on communication and replacing items if something is out of stock. All in all, Quicko offers a good experience.
How we tested
We ordered from Quicko in the Sydney CBD with a cart total of $39.49, which included a $5.99 delivery fee. We ordered a range of products, including milk, ice cream, cheese and the one and only Stagg Chili. We tested this alongside several other instant delivery service apps.
