Back in September it was announced that Qatar was launching a new route between Doha and the capital of Wales, Cardiff, in May. And now, we have a set date.

First flights take off on 1 May and to celebrate the world's best airline is running a sale on first flights with prices starting from $1,090 per person.

This is a companion sale, which means you have to travel in groups of two or more, and all travel must be taken from 1-31 May 2018.

For Australians, this means you can hop on a Qatar flight from Perth, with a stopover in Doha, and be in Cardiff in under 20 hours. This is not only the shortest but cheapest route on sale.

Other sample fares include Adelaide to Cardiff from $1,100, Sydney to Cardiff from $1,150 and Melbourne to Cardiff from $1,135 return.

Both economy and business seats are available in this sale and can be booked directly with Qatar Airways here.

This sale ends 30 November, unless sold out prior.
