Whoever said competition is good for consumers was right. Qantas has dropped a Sydney-Melbourne sale with fares on the route from $79 one way.
Take off between late June and late August 2021, just in time for the city's winter night markets.

How do these prices compare?
We rarely see Qantas prices drop below $99, so $79 fares are a big deal from the airline.
Earlier this week, Virgin and Rex kicked off a price war for the Sydney-Melbourne route with each announcing record low fares from $39.
While Qantas's offer is double the price, it's the only airline that offers full-service with baggage, entertainment and refreshments included with your fare.
This Qantas sale is available until Saturday 28 August unless sold out prior.
What's the catch?
Flexibility: Great. Travellers are entitled to unlimited, free date changes until 31 January 2022 for domestic flights booked until 30 April 2021.
Airline: Great. Qantas is Australia's national carrier and offers full-service fares. That's checked baggage, in-flight meals and entertainment all included in your airfare.
Frequent flyer points: Good. Earn Frequent Flyer points when you fly with this Qantas sale. That means a minimum of 800 Qantas points and 10 status credits can be nabbed.
Travel time: Great. Don't worry about stressful transfer times with direct flights.
