Qantas Airways' USA FlyAway sale includes return airfares from Australia to three US cities for less than $1000.

Qantas is offering discounted return airfares to Dallas Fort Worth, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.

Applicable travel dates for the sale are between 1 August until 14 September 2016 and 1 October until 17 November 2016 and 15 January until 17 March 2017.

A quick search reveals these Qantas fares from Melbourne-Los Angeles starting from $968 return if booked via Skiddoo, which is slightly lower than booking direct with the airline. Brisbane-Los Angeles and Sydney-Los Angeles fares are similarly priced at $970 return.

Return fares to Dallas Fort-Worth in Texas are cheapest from Sydney ($996), followed by Melbourne ($998) and Brisbane ($999).

If you're flying to San Francisco fares are $970 return from all three eastern Australian capitals.

Flights to New York are a little more expensive. We found Melbourne-New York return for $1200, while flights from Adelaide to NYC were priced at $1277 return.

Some flights may be operated by partner or subsidiary airlines.

Earlier this week Qantas released an Australia-wide sale on dozens of discounted domestic routes from just $69.
