PS Plus July 2017: A dose of Thrones before Season 7 begins

Thrones

Telltale's Game of Thrones and Until Dawn headline this month's PlayStation Plus lineup.

With Season 7 of Game of Thrones creeping up on us, some fans will be revisiting previous seasons in order to prepare, while others will ready themselves by burning through all six episodes of Telltale's interactive romp through Westeros, courtesy of PlayStation Plus.

If you're a PlayStation 4 owner with access to PlayStation Plus, throughout July you'll be able to download all six episodes of Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series as well as Supermassive Games' sleeper hit Until Dawn for free.

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series is a graphic adventure that puts the player in the shoes of each member of the Forrester family, one of the few Northern houses that remain loyal to the Starks after their downfall. The events of the game begin at the Red Wedding and it wastes no time in covering some of the show's most pivotal moments from the point of view of the Forresters. The humble Northerners are also up against foes like Cersei Lannister and Ramsay Snow, so you know it's going to be a rough journey for all involved.

PlayStation 4's other free game this month is Until Dawn, another choice-driven narrative with branching storylines. Until Dawn was one of 2015's best surprises. It's a tribute to schlocky slasher films with some genuine scares to boot. Until Dawn's mysterious prequel The Inpatient was recently announced at E3 for PlayStation VR, so now's a better time than ever to scrub up.

As an added bonus, PlayStation will be pushing its smartphone-integrated PlayLink this month by making the first party game That's You free until 24 October.

  • Ement4l (PS Vita)
