What policies are available from Priceline Protects?

Priceline Protects offers local and international policies. Depending on the nature of your journey, you can choose between a single-trip or multi-trip plan. Plans can be bought to cover one adult, two adults, or families and groups.

Premium International

Priceline’s international plans are available as a Basic, Essentials or Premium plan. The Premium plan covers:

  • Unlimited overseas medical assistance and hospitalisation expenses
  • Accidental death and disability
  • Cancellation fees and lost deposits
  • Hospital cash allowance
  • Additional expenses
  • Option to resume an interrupted journey
  • Travellers cheques and travel documents

Essentials International

This plan has fewer benefits than the Premium option but is still suited to international travel.

This policy covers local travel. Claims for medical emergencies should be filed with your personal health insurance provider. The Premium Australia Only plan covers:

How do I make a claim with Priceline?

  1. Download the claims form. You need to give notice of your claim as soon as possible, so start by downloading the claims form, filling it in and sending it to ACE Insurance. Claims should be filed within 30 days of the incident.
  2. Supply documentation. You’ll be asked to submit documentation as evidence to support your claim. Besides the claims form, requested documents include medical reports, police reports, declarations, receipts and valuations.
  3. Be cooperative. Refrain from offering to make payment or admit any liability without written consent from the underwriter, ACE Insurance.

Q. Who is eligible for cover?

  • A. Travel insurance is available to Australian residents 18 years of age and older. Different age limits apply to each policy, but the maximum is 74 years.

Q. When should I apply for travel insurance?

  • A. For a single trip, you can purchase your travel insurance policy up to nine months in advance. For a multi-trip plan, you can choose to start cover up to 45 days in advance of the start date. Cover for cancellation and lost deposits is provided from the date you purchase the policy.

Q. Do I have to pay excess?

  • A. When you purchase your policy, you’ll be able to choose between excess amounts of $100 or $250. However, the excess applying to claims relating to money and flight delays is $25 regardless of the excess option you choose.

Q. How does ACE Assistance work?

  • A. ACE Assistance is a 24-hour emergency helpline. In the event of a medical or similar emergency overseas, you can call the number directly or as a reverse call. ACE Assistance will help you locate medical assistance wherever you are.

Q. Can I extend my trip?

  • A. Each trip can be covered for a maximum of 90 consecutive days for international journeys or 45 consecutive days for local journeys. If you need to extend your journey, get in touch with Priceline Protects.

Q. Can I cancel my Priceline Protects policy if I’m not happy with it?

  • A. You have 14 days from the date of purchase to cancel your policy for a full refund. However, you will not be eligible for a refund if you’ve already left on your trip or filed a claim.

Q. Who is Priceline Protects underwritten by?

  • A. Priceline Protects travel insurance policies are underwritten by ACE Insurance Ltd.
