What Does Priceline Protects Accident Insurance Policy Cover?

The Priceline Accident Protection policy is accessible to anyone between 18 and 74 years old. You can choose cover for just yourself, or for yourself and your partner. Priceline Accident Protection insurance covers you for:

    • quadriplegia
    • paraplegia
    • permanent loss of the use of one or two limbs
    • permanent loss of entire sight in one or both eyes
    • permanent loss of hearing in one or both ears
    • permanent loss of speech
    • broken bones including:
  • hip
  • pelvis
  • neck
  • skull
  • shoulder blade
  • upper leg
  • collarbone
  • sternum
  • upper arm
  • knee cap
  • elbow
  • forearm
  • lower leg
  • jaw
  • wrist
  • cheekbone
  • ankle
  • foot

The benefit amount you’re paid for a specific accidental injury depends on its severity, and the level of cover you have chosen with Priceline Insurance. If you’re involved in an accident and suffer ailment, you will be compensated for the event with the highest benefit amount. There are five levels of Priceline Accident Protection available, so you can tailor your insurance to your budget, and to the cover amounts your family requires.

In the event of a claim you and your family will have access to the Family Care SOS helpline, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This helpline is offered by Priceline to provide emergency legal and medical assistance, home support services and assistance with modifying your home, for all residences within Australia.

Priceline Protects Accident Insurance Exclusions

When you are comparing accident insurance policies, it is important to understand the circumstances your policy does not cover. For example, the Priceline Accident Protection policy will not payout an accident insurance benefit if the accidental death, loss or injury is:

  • the direct or indirect result of a self-inflicted injury, suicide, or a criminal or illegal act
  • related to you being under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol content over the legal driving limit
  • the result of you being under the influence of any other drug unless prescribed by a doctor, and taken as directed
  • due to you engaging in a professional sport, including motorsport where you are a driver or a passenger
  • a consequence of war, invasion, civil war, or taking part in a riot or civil demonstration
  • the result of you being a pilot or crewmember on an aircraft which is not properly licensed
  • due to a pre-existing condition
  • suffered after you have exceeded the maximum age for coverage under your policy
  • suffered after you have already made a successful claim on your policy
  • eligible for a Medicare benefit under the Private Health Insurance Act 2007
  • due to a diagnosis of osteoporosis, made before the commencement of your policy.

How Much Does Priceline Accident Insurance Cost?

The benefits of accident insurance far outweigh the cost of the premiums. However, you do still have to find the money each month to keep your insurance policy current. Therefore, to help you compare the cost of Priceline Accident Protection, it is important to understand how the premiums will be calculated for your cover. Priceline Insurance calculates your accident insurance premiums based on your risk factors, the level of cover you have chosen, and whether you are insuring just yourself, or your partner as well.

Your premiums also include a number of compulsory government charges such as taxes, levies, stamp duty and GST. You will receive a detailed description of your policy options and the cost of your premium at the time of your application with Priceline Insurance. When you add optional benefits to your policy, these will incur an additional premium. The result is that the higher your level of cover, the higher your premiums, so you need to balance your current budget situation and the premiums you can afford, with the financial situation of your family if the insured were to suffer an accidental injury or death.

Making a Priceline Accident Insurance Claim

If the unfortunate circumstance does strike your family, where you need to make a claim on your Priceline Accident Protection, you need to notify Priceline Insurance of the situation as soon as possible. To complete the claims process and receive your accident insurance benefit:

  • you or a legal representative of the family will need to obtain a claims form by calling or emailing Priceline Insurance, and complete the claim form with the necessary documentation
  • provide any reports from the police, a carrier or other authorities regarding the accident, loss or damage
  • provide any other documentation required under your policy
  • provide the completed claim form within 30 days of the accident
  • provide all medical and other certificates and evidence required for the claim, at your own cost
  • assist with any recoveries or money payable under your policy
  • you may also be required to submit to medical examination at the expense of Priceline Insurance.

If a successful claim for accidental death is made, the benefit will be paid to your estate. In the event of all other successful claims, the benefit will be paid directly to you. If your policy is cancelled, you are still able to claim for an accidental death or injury which occurred before the cancellation date.
