Presto to stream exclusive Home and Away episode
This Braxton clan brawl won't screen on regular TV.
In its first Australian commission, Presto will produce a one-off special edition of long-running soap favourite Home and Away.
Home and Away: An Eye For An Eye will become available on Presto in December, after Home and Away finishes its 2015 season. It will be a Presto exclusive and won't screen on free-to-air TV in any form. It will be shot in 4K, unlike the parent show.
The special will focus on the villainous Braxton family and will see the return of two former cast members, Dan Ewing as Heath and Lisa Gormley as Bianca. (While this is welcome news for current fans, we'd love it if Home and Away pulled the same ghost trick it has used in the past and brings back some crucial characters, most notably Bobby and Ailsa. Hey, a tragic soap obsessive can dream, can't they?)
Presto is a partnership between Foxtel and Channel Seven, so it has always seemed a little odd that Home and Away hasn't been promoted as part of the platform. This new show doesn't quite mean that we've reached the point where Presto will offer classic episodes or catch-up, but it's a step in the right direction for Summer Bay fans. (One likely block there: the earliest episodes probably don't have any streaming rights deals with the cast.)
