How To Set Up Presto on Samsung Smart TV

Which models let you watch Presto on Samsung Smart TVs?

Most Samsung Smart TVs manufactured after 2012 will be compatible with Presto’s services. Below is a complete list of Samsung Smart TVs that can stream Presto.

  • 2012: E Series, All Sizes
  • 2013: F Series, All Sizes
  • 2014: H Series, All Sizes

Where can I download Presto for my Samsung Smart TV?

  • Navigate to the Samsung Smart Hub Screen
  • Select Samsung Apps

  • In the Search field, type Presto
  • Select the Presto App from the Search Results

  • Click Download
  • An Install will appear in the bottom corner of your screen, click OK
  • Wait until the download has finished
  • Once the download is complete open the Presto app
  • You should be directed to the Sign In page. If not, select the Settings tab at the top of the screen

  •  Select Sign In underneath Account Details

  • If you’re not already subscribed to Presto, you will have a chance to visit the site and register. Save yourself some time and follow the link at the top of this page to register beforehand.
  • Now that you’ve subscribed and are back in the Presto app, enter your email address and password in the fields shown.

  • Congratulations, you’re now ready to start streaming Presto from your Samsung Smart TV.Your Samsung Smart TV is so smart that it will remember your login details, so you won’t have to go through this process again.

    I have a Samsung TV model UA55KU7000W. I can’t find the Presto app in the apps, and it doesn’t appear when I search for it. Where do I find it? The instructions all say to go to Smart Hub, but this model doesn’t have Smart Hub – that is on older models.

      Hi Linda,

      It looks like Samsung Smart TVs no longer support Presto. I’d recommend trying another device (gaming console, PC etc.) or switching to Netflix or Stan.

    Can you tell me if I can get presto and Netflix on my Samsung PS58C6500TF smart TV thank you

      Hi Annie,

      We don’t have access to that particular model to test, so this isn’t definitive, but checking its release date and specifications if it’s the Australian model it’s not terribly likely on its own; while Samsung has offered some smart TV features on its plasma models, they all predate the launch of Netflix Australia by quite some time. For that TV, you may have to look at an add-on set top box such as the Apple TV, Google Chromecast or Telstra TV to enable Netflix compatibility.

    When I go to download presto the following message appears “an error was encountered. Can not connect. Please try again later.” I have tried again for weeks. I have checked and yes I have Internet connection to the TV. What can I do ?

      You’ve reached finder.com.au. The Presto Smart TV app has a lot of issues. I would recommend deleting it and reinstalling it. If that doesn’t help, I would suggest contacting Presto’s support team.

      I can not delete it. The method on here says to hold the select button and a delete or something should appear. That does not happen. If I hold the select it just tries to open and the same message comes up.

    Trying to use Presto using the App found in the Samsung Smart Hub on my UA55H6400AW model Samsung Smart TV. Have checked at the Samsung Hub using holding down the select button that all Apps are up to date.

    I am able to sign-in to the app and browse but when I select play on an item the loading symbol continually spins and after 5-10mins of this the screen goes black except for the ‘back’ icon and word in the bottom left hand corner. No remote input will then cause a reaction other than the Smart Hub button or power button to force exit the app. Any advice?

      Hi Nathan,

      This a common issue with the Presto Smart TV app. I would recommend deleting the app and reinstalling it. That seems to work for most users. Let me know how you go.

    I have downloaded presto and go to settings to do my login but how do I get down from where my email address is onto my password got me stuffed

    I purchased Samsung Smart TV in 2015. Had installed Presto and was working. Recently major problems connecting. Reset TV and relogged into Presto – still no joy. Logging in is a pain, takes forever – long delay in pressing button and cursor moving to the right letters. Also cannot use my Magic Remote on Presto app, I have to use the up and down and left right arrows which is time consuming. Any suggestions why the problems and if it is normal for Magic remote not to work on Smart TV?

      Hi Robyn,

      Have you tried deleting the Presto app and reinstalling? This is a common fix for software issues like the ones you’ve described. If that doesn’t solve your problem I would recommend contacting Presto customer support.

    I have no sound when watching Presto. I am using external speakers which work fine with regular TV/Foxtel etc. The TV settings are selected for use with speakers and not TV sound

      Are you streaming Presto through a Smart TV, or a different device? If you are using a Smart TV, please check that it’s one of the compatible models listed in the article above.

    Presto app on Samsung smart TV 2015 model will not open. showing message “An error was encountered. cannot connect. please try again later.” Any advice?

      Hi Barry,

      I would recommend deleting the Presto application and reinstalling it. To do this, press and hold the Select button on your remote until a menu next to the app logo appears. Then select Delete.

      Next, head into Samsung Smart Hub, search for Presto and download it again.

    how do I turn on the virtual keyboard as shown in the screen shot on this page

      Hi Jade,

      The virtual keyboard should appear once you’ve highlighted the text field with the directional buttons and pressed the “select” button (found in the centre of the directional buttons).
