Presto adds Playstation compatibility

Presto customers can now access the streaming media service from Sony’s Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.

When Netflix launched in Australia back in March, it did so with the distinct advantage over the homegrown Presto and Stan services in terms of supported client devices. That’s a gap that’s been shrinking of late, especially for Presto, which only recently added support for a wider range of Android smartphones and tablets, as well as Android TV devices.

The latest devices to gain access to the Presto streaming service are Sony’s Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 consoles, which now offer a downloadable Presto streaming client application.

It means that the Playstation 3 and 4 now offer access to all three of the major Australian streaming services, as there was already a Netflix and Stan client for the Playstation consoles. Netflix still has a slight edge in the console stakes, however, as there are Netflix client applications for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Wii consoles.

The launch comes on the day that Presto’s due to air its exclusive Home and Away special, An Eye For An Eye, which premieres at 9pm tonight.
