Beauty product of the week: Pout About It lipstick in Wonderland
The perfect nude for medium skin tones.
Why we love this product
I feel that Sportsgirl beauty products are some of the most underrated products on the market. If you actually spend some proper time looking through the selection, you can find some really affordable gems.
That's how I discovered Pout About It lipstick in Wonderland.
I have a medium skin tone. Yes, in the middle of winter I can get reasonably fair but generally, my skin is right in the middle of the skin colour spectrum. This makes finding foundations and makeup to suit my skin tone nearly impossible. Any other girl with an ethnic heritage will tell you the same thing. I wear the darkest or second-darkest shade in most foundations, which is crazy considering that I'm in the middle.
I love the look of a nude lipstick but I have never (until now) found one that works with my colouring. My lips are not pink. They have a dark almost purple natural colouring, which warps the colour of almost any nude that I try on. Nudes end up looking an unflattering mauve colour when all I wanted was to get that glossy Kardashian pout.
Wonderland changed all that. It's more of a brown colour, which is great for us medium and darker girls. Nude isn't supposed to look like you're wearing white lipstick.
It's a little bit too dark to be a true nude for me but it blends in seamlessly if I use one of my darker foundations. It's matte and highly pigmented, which stops the natural colour of my lips from showing through and changing the shade of the lipstick, but the colour is still muted so it's not overpowering. It's also a warmer colour, which I think is a lot more flattering on skin tones that can sometimes look sallow.
If you're a medium skin toned person, give this lipstick a go. It might just be the nude you've been looking for.
Wonderland retails for $9.95. For less than $10, this lipstick is totally affordable.
