11 podcasts that we swear will help you survive your 20s
Follow, rate and review to live your best life.
Surviving your 20s (especially during a global pandemic) isn't always easy. From kick-starting your career to building healthy relationships and managing your finances and manifesting your best life, it can be bloody tough.
Luckily, there's a podcast for that. Actually, there are a few podcasts for that. After many hours of listening, laughing and learning, we've put together a list of shows that are must-listen to get you through your second decade unscathed and only slightly traumatised.
Two Broke Chicks
Naturally, I'm kicking off this list with a shameless plug for our poddy Two Broke Chicks. Hosted by my partner-in-crime Alex Hourigan and I, it's the show that shares life lessons for the gals, from the gals. From getting better with money and landing your dream gig to getting dumped and moving out of home, each week we share – and overshare – our mistakes and musings from our 20s. With the help of our guests (including Sarah Davidson, Chantelle Otten and Allira Potter to name a few), we're determined to help you learn some of life's hard lessons the easy way.
Girl Code Podcast
Besties and podcast co-hosts Madi Woolley and Kaitlyn Rodriguez take us along for the ride as they navigate their early 20s. From dating dilemmas and finding your independence to burnout culture and working in social media, the gals share what they've learned (so far).
It's A Lot with Abbie Chatfield
If you're after a no BS poddy where no topic is off limits, tune in to It's A Lot and turn it up to 11. Every week reality TV icon, business b*tch and all-round vibe Abbie Chatfield dishes on the deep stuff from mental health and feminism to chats about social issues and politics. Some episodes will have you in tears, others in stitches, but it's always worth a listen.
How To...Life is the closest thing we've got to a manual for #adulting (I hate myself for using that term, but you know what I mean). From how to spot a f*ck boy to forgiving your high school self, Claudia Jenna and Nikolina try to detangle the WTF questions most of us have in our 20s and 30s. And when the gals don't have the answers themselves, they sit down with guests who can help fill in the blanks.
Seize The Yay by Sarah Davidson
Sarah Davidson (or @spoonful_of_sarah, as you may recognise her) is a lawyer turned entrepreneur who has inspired many with her "Seize The Yay" philosophy. Every week, she chats with fellow business legends, boss biddies and inspiring guests about finding their "yay" through work, rest or play. Al and I chatted to Sarah on Two Broke Chicks and we can vouch that her banter, words of wisdom and taste in memes are 10/10.
Ladies Finance Club
Do you feel a little clueless when it comes to your finances? Join the club. The Ladies Finance Club, that is. Co-hosts Lisa Conway-Hughes (British financial planner) and Molly Benjamin (financial educator and founder of the Ladies Finance Club) answer all of the money q's you wish you learned in school. From crash courses in budgeting to how to have a healthy conversation about money with your partner, each episode is chockers with advice that's practical without being preachy.
Consider The BODcast essential listening for your weekly self-care routine. Hosted by the fabulous April Helen-Horton (aka @thebodzilla), The BODcast preaches all thangs self-love and body positivity. Often served up in bite-sized episodes, the show values intersectionality, kindness and growth to help foster a community of body acceptance and self-lurve, bby.
Happy Hour with Lucy & Nikki
Happy Hour is hands-down one of my fave podcasts and is legit just having real talk with the gals over a couple of cocktails. Hosted by Jagger & Stone co-founders, We The Wild Ones besties and absolute lords Lucy Jackson and Nikki Westcott, they recount their loosest stories, interview killer guests and chat everything from starting a business and relationships to celeb gossip. After just one episode, I guarantee that you'll be in tears of laughter and geed up to start a business with your bestie.
Unless you've been living under a proverbial podcast rock, you'd know that Shameless is the pop culture poddy for smart people who love dumb stuff. Every Thursday hosts Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews along with their producer Annabelle Lee dissect, discuss and debate the latest pop culture headlines. You'll get a new perspective, pick up skills in critical thinking and have a hot take to bring to Sunday brunch.
BFFs Cartia and Ashton's podcast Common Chaos is new on the scene but we're already obsessed. So far the gals have chatted break-ups, talked toxic masculinity with Bailey Smith and taught us how to face our fears. It's only early days, but we can expect plenty more episodes full of raw convos, life tips and lotsa laughs.
Hosted by Bachie finalists Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, Life Uncut is a straight chat about love, lust and dating in the modern day. It's basically like a grown-up version of Dolly Doctor and I'm here for it. All of the episodes are top notch, but my fave has to be "Ask Uncut" where they answer juicy q's like "How to end an affair" and how to deal with "thin walls and loud neighbours".
Alrighty, now that we've got your podcast playlist organised for the next decade it's time to fill your bookshelves. Check out our round-up of absolutely fiyah books to read in your 20s for our picks.
