Pocket Network is a protocol designed to support hosting decentralised RPC nodes for applications across a wide range of blockchains. The network achieves this by running tens of thousands independent, secure nodes across over 30 blockchains, including Ethereum and Polygon.
The primary purpose of the Pocket Network project is to provide app developers access to servers with constant uptime. By spreading bandwidth between an abundance of node validators, the protocol intends to create a truly decentralised Web 3.0. For example, connecting a wallet such as Metamask to a DEX sends your data through a centralised cluster of RPC nodes, leaving users at risk of server failure. Pocket Network addresses this by providinag low-cost solution for businesses looking to deploy and interact with blockchain-based infrastructure – no matter how big or small.
Pocket Network utilises a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, where validators can run nodes using the protocol’s native token, POKT. These tokens can also be used for transaction fees.
