PLEX is a liquid token used as a payment tool within the MinePlex ecosystem - a hybrid financial platform that fuses the stability and high liquidity of traditional financial products with the transparency and security of the blockchain. The platform offers a suite of products that enable the everyday use of cryptocurrencies, such as buying goods and services, paying utility bills, and earning interest on savings.
According to the MinePlex whitepaper, all transactions within the MinePlex ecosystem are processed using the native MinePlex blockchain, which was developed using the open-source Tezos blockchain. All features of the ecosystem are then accessible through the native mobile application - MinePlex.Auth. The MinePlex.Auth mobile app serves as a single gateway to features including a multicurrency wallet, a blockchain explorer, an electronic payment system (MinePlex.Money), and a digital bank that supports crypto and fiat services.
PLEX is the native cryptocurrency that is used for all external transactions. New PLEX tokens are released every time a new block is added to the MinePlex blockchain. Similar to Bitcoin, this number is set to reduce with time. Besides PLEX, the platform also issues a second token called MINE. While PLEX is used for external transactions, MINE is a stable cryptocurrency used for paying internal commissions. In addition to internal commissions, MINE token holders can stake tokens to earn more PLEX.
