The PlayStation 5 disc edition is back in stock at Amazon

The PlayStation 5 standard-edition console is back on sale at Amazon Australia (but stock is extremely limited).
This is not a drill: Amazon Australia has managed to get its hands on some fresh PlayStation 5 consoles. Unlike the previous drop, this is the fully-fledged Standard Edition console rather than the inferior Digital Edition. That means you can use it to play physical game discs, including all your old PlayStation 4 games.
The new PS5 listing can be found here. However, there is a very big catch.
The asking price is currently set at $1,200. That's a markup of nearly $450 compared to the Australian RRP of $749.95.
We personally wouldn't recommend paying such an exorbitant amount of money, but the fact remains that the PlayStation 5 is nearly impossible to buy brand new at any price. Indeed, second-hand models on eBay routinely sell for over $1,000.
If you're desperate to own a PS5, you're unlikely to find it cheaper than this. (You can blame ongoing chip shortages and shipping issues. Unfortunately, nobody has any idea when things will stabilise.) Here's the link to buy:

If previous drops are anything to go by, you can expect Amazon's stock to dry up at any moment, so don't delay hitting that purchase button if you're keen. Alternatively, you can also check out Finder's PS5 buying guide for more options.

About PlayStation 5
The PS5 is well on its way to being the best-selling console this generation, with the PlayStation 5 reportedly being more in demand than the Xbox Series X in 84% of countries. Featuring vastly improved graphics with almost no load times, a brand new controller and a bevy of fresh first-party IP, it's poised to profoundly change the gaming landscape in the years to come. Crucially, it's also backwards compatible with most PlayStation 4 software, which means the majority of your old games will work on the new system.
