Is Perth safe?
Perth is considered to be perfectly safe for travellers. However, there are still a number of things that remain important for travelers to be aware of when planning a trip to Perth.
- Nighttime travel. There are some train lines that are best to avoid unless you are travelling in a group. The Armadale line can be intimidating at night, and you may want to avoid traveling to Rockingham, Victoria Park and Kwinana at night too.
- Wildlife. When driving through the suburbs, it’s normal to come across wildlife running across the road at night. Avoid swerving as it you could end up in a lane of oncoming traffic or in a ditch. Brake hard and try to avoid hitting the animal. If you do hit a marsupial, pull over and check it out. It could have a baby in it’s pouch which could be spared by wrapping it in a towel or blanket and a making trip to the nearest vet.
- Pets. Leave them at home when exploring forests and reserves, as these places can be fatal to your pets with foxes and feral cats in abundance.
- Tides.The ocean can be unpredictable in Perth. Don’t balance on the large rocks at the edge of the water or you could end up being knocked off in an instant.
