You don't have to imagine yourself waking up to scenes of snow-covered mountains and landscapes with these on-snow stays. The Man from Snowy River Hotel is one of Booking.com's top picks for Perisher accommodation and provides close access to the Village Eight Express. We recommend making the most of the floor-to-ceiling views of the slopes and the open fireplace on site.
Situated in Smiggin Holes, the Snowy Gums Chalet offers comfortable accommodation that neighbours Kosciuszko National Park. With ski-in and ski-out facilities, a spa and a jacuzzi, you really can't go wrong. For incredibly close range to the Perisher chair lifts, the Matterhorn Lodge is another great option. You'll be within a kilometre of the Perisher Quad Express Chair, Blaxland T-Bar, Wentworth T-Bar and the Mount Perisher Triple and Double Chairs.
Just because you're heading out to one of Australia's favourite skiing destinations doesn't mean you have to break the bank for a holiday. For cheaper accommodation options, we suggest checking out stays in Jindabyne, which is merely a 30-minute drive from the Perisher Ski Resort.
The Kookaburra Lodge, Banjo Paterson Inn and Snowview Apartments all host tranquil views of Lake Jindabyne. According to Booking.com, the Banjo Paterson Inn is a top pick for guests alongside Kookaburra Lodge, which is a bestseller. The Snowview Apartments offer a fireplace for guests to enjoy after a day of winter sporting activities.
The Snowy Valley Jindabyne, Siesta Villa and Vikas Motel are also great options in Jindabyne that range around $500 for a 2-night stay.
There's nothing like being able to hit the snow as soon as you leave the hotel. The great news is that the highly rated Boonoona Ski Lodge, Perisher Valley Hotel and Chalet Sonnenhof all fit the bill. These stays will have you just minutes away from the Perisher Ski Tube Terminal, International T-Bar or the Perisher Quad Express Chair and Lawson T-Bar.
Known for their excellent locations, all three hotels have 4-star ratings, offering a variety of breakfast options and have been in operation for over five years. After a long day of skiing or snowboarding, you can come back to any of these stays to enjoy a spa/sauna experience or dine in with gorgeous views of the slopes.
Smiggins is one of the accommodation hotspots in Perisher. We recommend Snowy Gums Chalet, Numbananga Lodge and Snowstay at Heidi's as they are all centrally located to most of the resort's activities, which means you and your guests are out on the snow quicker.
Numbananga Lodge and Snowstay at Heidi's both offer lounge and dining areas within the rooms. Snowy Gums provides a games room for the kids as well as a spa/jacuzzi. Within a kilometre you'll have access to the Perisher Quad Express Chair, Kaaten Triple Chair, Scott J-Bar, Captain Cook J-Bar and the Perisher Blue Ski Resort.
There are a plethora of family stay options available at Perisher. We chose the Perisher Manor Hotel based on its 9.9/10 rating from previous families who have stayed while holidaying in the snow capital. It offers ski-in and ski-out access, kids meals and family rooms. The Mountain View Chalet is also conveniently located in Smiggin with the availability of onsite parking and comfortable rooms that fit up to six people.
Lodge Chalet is situated a little further out in Perisher Valley. Although it doesn't have direct snow access it does have skiing facilities and a games room with billiards for after-dinner entertainment. You'll also have the option of a childminding service and TV within the hotel rooms. After that home-away-from-home feel to your snowy escape? Or want a quiet retreat after a long day on the slopes? Well the great news is sites such as Airbnb, Stayz and HomeAway can offer all of the above. It's your choice as to whether you wake up in a remote cabin, apartment with picturesque mountain views or even a luxury family chalet.
Choose from accommodation in the Perisher Valley itself or avoid the crowds all together with a stay in neighbouring towns.
Perisher is located in southern New South Wales, around an hour's drive from Mount Kosciuszko National Park and the Victorian border.
If you're driving from Sydney, it's five and a half hours from the city centre. There is also the option of taking an hour's flight from Sydney Airport to Cooma via Rex Regional Express. From there it is another hour's drive to Perisher.
Jindabyne is a great accommodation option if you don't want to be directly on the snow as it's only a 30- to 40-minute drive from Perisher. Accommodation options are usually cheaper and you're likely to get great views of the Jindabyne lake.
