Beauty product of the week: Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery
This is the best frizz-eliminating product I've ever tried.
Why we love this product
I have curly hair that looks bouncy and exotic on my best days and like a frizz halo/bird's nest on my worst. And with Australia's binary weather, either humidity or rain, I have a lot more bad hair days than good.
But Percy & Reed's Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery has changed that. One application gives me three to four good hair days in a row. It appears to have an almost relaxing effect on my hair. After the first time I tried it, my hair looked the same as it did when I had a keratin treatment – not dead straight, but straighter and without the frizz.
I discovered how good this product was about a month ago. A fellow editor (with similar curly hair) gave me a bottle and told me to try it about a year ago. She swore by it. Honestly, I didn't plan on giving it a go. I don't really like sleeping with leave-in conditioner in my hair because it gets on my face during the night and makes my complexion spotty.
However, one Sunday night I was bored and decided it was time to try it. It worked so well that I've used it every week since.
As promised, this treatment truly sinks into your hair and doesn't leave any residue on your pillow once its dry. As long as you follow the directions and only apply it on dry hair, you shouldn't have to wait too long for it to dry. Apply it liberally through you hair, adding extra to damaged areas like the ends and then brush through.
In the morning, when washing it out, the instructions say that you don't need to use conditioner, although I must admit that the last time I used it I did add conditioner as my hair still felt a little dry.
As soon as my hair began to dry after the shower I noticed the difference. My frizz was mostly gone and I couldn't get over how soft and how much straighter my hair appeared. There was no need to blow dry or straighten my hair, although you might need to if you prefer the dead straight look.
If you have an issue with frizz, definitely give this product a try.
Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery retails for $42 in Australia.
It's not exactly the most affordable product, especially given how much you need to use for one application. But this product can take the place of most, if not all, other anti-frizz products in your cupboard. If you're regularly buying mousse, hairspray, serum, hair oils, etc, this one product might actually be the more economical option.
