Say goodbye to enlarged pores and uneven skin tone, thanks to this niacinamide serum.

I'm going to start this off with a pretty bold statement: I think everyone needs to try a niacinamide serum at least once in their life.

If you've never heard of it before, it's a form of vitamin B3 which claims to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tones, wrinkles and dry skin. It's the kind of product that can be used by anyone and everyone, even those with sensitive skin types.

I personally love what it can do, so I was very excited to give the 10% Niacinamide Booster from Paula's Choice a red-hot go.

The quick verdict

Why is it good? This multi-tasking product improves your skin's texture while calming and hydrating it.

How much is it? $62 for 20mL.

Where to buy it: Paula's Choice.

The formulation is a concentrated 10% niacinamide formula, that's been blended with a number of different antioxidants to calm and hydrate the skin. It promises to dramatically improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of pores and improve the look of uneven skin tone.

Verdict

I've been using this niacinamide serum for the past few weeks and I've really been enjoying the results. My skin looks brighter, feels more hydrated and looks a lot more even.

I only ever apply it at night, using about 2-3 drops, and it layers great under everything including thick night-time moisturisers and retinol serums.

I will say that the texture is not really something I'm used to. I was expecting it to have a serum-like consistency, but it's actually very watery. This is the product's only downfall as I find it a little hard to use. While the dropper works just fine, you kind of have to collect the liquid in your hand and apply it to your face, without spilling it everywhere.

Some may prefer to apply the dropper straight to their face, but that's something I would never do because I have acne-prone skin and I like to keep my products sterile.

In saying all that, it is super lightweight and feels super breathable on the skin.

Affordability

The Paula's Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster will set you back $62. In hindsight, it's not really affordable.

I have tried another niacinamide serum before – The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% – and that was less than $10 to give you a comparison.

Is the Paula's Choice one worth it? It's a great product, but if you're short on cash, you can certainly find cheaper alternatives on the market.

Where to buy

You can get your hands on the 10% Niacinamide Booster directly from Paula's Choice.
