Paribus is a decentralised cross-chain borrowing and lending platform geared to NFTs, existing liquidity positions, other synthetic assets. Created on Cardano, the project aims to leverage the enhanced capabilities of the blockchain to offer users the ability to amplify liquidity through the decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem. The project was initially launched in 2021 using one of Cardano’s first launchpads - CardStarter.
According to the project’s whitepaper, Paribus is building solutions for users to expand yield and improve the management of digital assets. The application allows users to access collateralised loans based on the NFTs and existing liquidity positions held within a portfolio. Loans can then be used within other decentralised finance (DeFi) applications to generate yield. Paribus gives users the opportunity to enjoy the appreciation that comes with many NFTs while leveraging that value to generate further revenue. While users can enjoy the high transaction speeds and low fees of the Cardano blockchain, Paribus is also looking to incorporate other blockchain ecosystems so that NFTs and loans are not restricted to one DeFi environment.
PBX is the native governance token of the protocol. Token holders are allowed to vote on all development proposals that can affect the project, which helps to keep the application decentralised. Token holders can also stake their tokens within the application to access part of the revenue distribution model. Those staked receive a portion of all fees generated by the protocol.
