Paramount Plus price changes in Australia: When, why and how much?

There will soon be new ways to stream with Paramount Plus, but it will cost more.
Paramount Plus has announced a shake up in how you stream the service in Australia by announcing 2 new tiers.
This is part of an international roll out of changes to the streaming service and comes shortly after it raised its price in August 2023.
What are the new tiers for Paramount Plus?
Paramount Plus is introducing both Premium and Advertising tier subscriptions to Australia.
The Advertising tier won't be launched until beginning of 2024 and details thus far have been light.
The Premium subscription will be available to sign up to from 16 November 2023 and will cost $13.99 a month in Australia.
Alternatively you can pay an annual fee for the Premium plan of $124.99 for $43 in savings.
By choosing the Premium tier, you'll be able to get:
- Improved quality formats including 4K UHD, HDR10 and Dolby Vision
- 4 concurrent streams
- Exclusive content
It will be available on the Paramount Plus app on Apple iOS, Apple tvOS, Amazon Fire, Google, Roku and Samsung at launch.
It's also available if you use web browsers, Android mobile devices and Android TV.
Then it will come to LG, VIDAA/Hisense, Xbox and Prime Video Channels in 2024.
A Paramount Plus spokesperson confirmed that users with a Premium account will be able to log into the service on any device and will be able to use their Premium account, even if their device doesn't have Premium quality capability.
The 4 concurrent streams will be honoured across those devices without premium quality capability.
Here's a look at how the Premium tier compares to the existing Paramount Plus tier.
Plan | Monthly price | Max video quality | Simultaneous streams |
---|---|---|---|
Standard | $9.99 | HD | 2 |
Premium | $13.99 | 4K | 4 |
If you currently subscribe to Paramount Plus for $9.99 a month, there are no changes to your subscription.

Update 4:30pm AEDT 24 October 2023: We updated this article with more information on the devices for Paramount Plus premium.
I pay for 3 subscriptions monthly. I have just been debited $89.99 on my credit card which must be for 12 months. Is this correct? If so, how can I make sure that you do not continue to charge me for my 3 accounts. Thank you.
Hi Megan,
This is Finder, not Paramount Plus. You would need to contact Paramount Plus direct about any billing queries.
You can contact them via here: https://support.paramountplus.com/s/contactsupport?language=en_US
From what you’ve said though, the $89.99 does sound like it’s for an annual subscription to Paramount Plus, but you would again need to confirm with it direct about billing enquiries.
Hope this helps.
I currently have NBN through Dodo and have individual subscriptions to each of the following:
Netflix
Amazon Prime
Britbox
Stan
Paramount Plus
iView
SBS onDemand
All of the above including the Dodo NBN are on paid monthly with no long term contracts so no penalties will apply if I cancel/change/delete a service.
Ideally I would like to bundle the lot and add the ability to record programs for later playback which I don’t have currently.
Is it possible to bundle any or all of the above thereby saving money and reducing the number of accounts paid monthly?
Hi Phil,
There is no one service that would allow you to bundle everything you’ve mentioned there.
You can can bundle Netflix, Prime Video, BritBox and Paramount Plus through Optus Subhub for a discount, but that would require you to be an Optus customer to take advantage of this and your NBN bill might end up being more than what you’re paying now.
The Fetch streaming box is another option where you can subscribe to multiple apps, but it doesn’t offer discounts for signing up to multiple services at once.
SBS on Demand and iView are the streaming services of free-to-air TV services, so you don’t have to pay to access them.
As they’re also streaming services, you don’t record programs, they have their TV shows and movies on demand allowing you to watch at any time.
If you’re looking to save money, you can compare NBN plans to see if these are right for you: https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans/nbn
Hope this helps.
