Pantone’s 2018 colour is Ultra Violet and here are all the products you’ll need!

Alexandra Hourigan 8 December 2017 NEWS

Lets be honest, Ultra Violet isn't the easiest colour to shop. Good thing we did all the work for you!

It feels like it was only a few months ago that Pantone announced the colour of the year for 2017, a zesty green to symbolise "new beginnings". Somehow, don't ask me how, we've done a full circle and it's apparently that time of year once more. So take a break from the typical red and green colours that accompany this season and embrace the shade of 2018... Ultra Violet.

Let me just start by saying, I'm in love. Purple hasn't been "in" per se, for a while. Whilst it's still a colour multiple celebrities have worn and outgoing fashion lovers have embraced, it's not a colour that received a whole lot of love... until now. The inspiration behind Pantone's colour of the year is a "spiritual, cosmic" purple that "communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us toward the future" and I couldn't be more excited. Plus, after a year of millennial pink, bright red and your typical black, something with a pop is just what the doctor ordered.

After a year like 2017 (let's be honest, it sucked for all of us) this colour is what you needed more than you probably realise. The purple shade has been related to "mystical or spiritual" properties over time, offering "a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today's over-stimulated world." Here. Here.

Whilst I'm already planning my outfits around this new colour, it's definitely not the easiest to find some perfect purple products. Luckily, I'm on this bandwagon so fast I've already got some top picks in both beauty and fashion to stimulate some ultra (violet) inspo for you. Keep scrolling to find out all the purple products you'll need in your life for 2018.
