Launched in late 2020, Oxygen is a decentralised finance (DeFi) Prime Brokerage Protocol. The application facilitates lending and borrowing, fund transfers and token exchanges from a 100% decentralised, non-custodial and on-chain platform. The protocol is built on the Solana blockchain and is powered by Serum. According to Oxygen documentation, by utilising the Solana blockchain, Oxygen is able to provide faster transaction settlement times and cheaper gas fees compared to Ethereum-based platforms. Meanwhile, the Serum centralised exchange, which is integrated into the Solana ecosystem, forms the heart of Oxygen’s trading capabilities. Oxygen (OXY) is also the name given to the application's utility token. The token is used to pay for all transactions that take place on the Oxygen platform. It also entitles token holders to earn a discount on transaction fees and gain voting rights for community-based governance.
