OVR is a decentralised infrastructure provider and augmented reality (AR) metaverse. Developed using the Ethereum blockchain, the protocol seeks to create interactive experiences through AR mobile devices. The OVR protocol is composed of three key modules. These include OVR’s software development kit (SDK) that can be used for the development OVR native tools, OVRLand Mapping which localises AR assets within surrounding geographic locations, and OVRLand which divides segments of the real-world for digital ownership. OVR has divided the real-world into 300 OVRLand pieces that are mapped 1-1 to actual geographic locations. Each piece of OVRLand is then represented by NFT tokens. The owner of the NFT can decide what AR elements can be used within the geographic location.
According to the project’s website the protocol seeks to target both users and developers that are looking to create an immersive community and utilise real-world experiences within a digital environment. The protocol is aiming to utilise its digital metaverse for gaming, live events such as concerts, retail shopping or e-commerce, tourism, and a bundle of other activities.
The platform’s native token is also called OVR. The token can be used for buying and selling OVRLand, as well as staking and earning rewards. Content creators can also bid for tokens, by publishing AR experiences within the ecosystem.
