Ovation of the Seas arrives in Australia for the summer, brings discounts
One of the world’s newest and largest ships will be based in Sydney.
The largest cruise ship to ever be based in Australia arrives today, with its first port of call in Fremantle before it settles in Sydney for the summer cruise season.
The $1-billion Ovation of the Seas, which set sail from Singapore with a record-setting 3800 Australians on board (although the ship can carry a massive 4,180 at full capacity), is the newest ship in the Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Class fleet.
Alongside typical cruise offerings like swimming pools, buffets and Broadway-style entertainment, the ship boasts unconventional amenities at sea like indoor skydiving, bumper cars and the North Star - a glass capsule that offers 360-degree views at 300 feet above sea level.
For those curious to see it for themselves, cabins are still available during the summer cruising season, starting at $618 for a 3-night cruise from Sydney
These sailings are part of Royal Caribbean’s current sale, where if you pay for the first passenger in a cabin at full-price, the second is available at a 50% discount. Third and fourth passengers can also be added at a 25% discount.
Oceanview cabins will also be upgraded to staterooms with balconies.
Ovation of the seas will arrive in Sydney on 15 December after it tours the south coast of Australia. It will be based in Australia, offering domestic sailings and cruises to New Zealand and the South Pacific, until March 2017 before sailing to Asia.
