What is Origin Protocol?
The Origin Protocol was built on the Ethereum blockchain and aims to bring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and decentralised finance (DeFi) to the average consumer. According to Origin Protocol's litepaper, the protocol seeks to enable a decentralised peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace, allowing for commerce without the need for intermediaries. Origin Protocol believes this should promote an open and transparent platform for commerce.
The platform has begun focusing on an NFT marketplace and launchpad, which already allows buyers and sellers to purchase and sell fractional use goods and services. The platform has also developed a US dollar stablecoin called Origin USD (OUSD).
While OUSD is a prominent part of the ecosystem, it is the native OGN token that powers the platform. The token can be used for staking, governance and the collection of fees within the Origin Protocol ecosystem.
