Optus Sport free trial: What does the service offer at its Basic tier?

Optus Sport has replaced its free trial offer with a completely free tier of access all Aussies can enjoy.

We’re reader-supported and may be paid when you visit links to partner sites. We don’t compare all products in the market, but we’re working on it!

While Optus Sport got off on the wrong foot (or boot) with football fans in Australia, the app is still a robust contender in the sports streaming game. The platform offers coverage of the most popular football competitions and allows subscribers to enjoy live streams of all 380 matches of the current English Premier League, all through a stylish app.

You don't need to be an Optus customer to get access to the service, as it is available to everyone as a standalone service. Just head on over to the Optus Sport website to get started.

What content does Optus Sport's free Basic version offer?

Optus Sport used to offer a 14-day trial, which is sadly no longer available. Instead, it now offers a free tier of access that includes a limited range of highlights and interviews. It does not offer any live sports streams for any sport available on Premium.

How much does Optus Sport Premium cost?

An Optus Sport subscription costs $14.99 per month and it's available once you sign up with the app.

From then on, you will be able to stream every English Premier League match live.

At the same time, Optus Sport is also the official broadcaster of UEFA Nations League, Euro Qualifiers and UEFA Euro 2020. Selected matches are available on-demand and you can also watch mini-match highlights, ideal for when you need to catch up with your favourite competitions.

What do I need to stream Optus Sport?

Subscribers can watch on the big screen via Xbox, Fetch TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV or Chromecast, as well as tune in with a computer.

The Optus Sport Premium subscription is available to all Australian residents via the App Store or Google Play and will last you for 30 days. There are no-lock-in contracts involved, so you can cancel anytime. If you're already an Optus customer, look into adding Optus Sport to your subscription, it's free on selected plans.

More streaming free trials

The free "Basic" version of Optus Sport won't do much to satisfy the sportier streamers out there but there is a whole range of free trials available for streaming services in Australia. You can compare these in the table below.
