Oppo R11 lands at Woolworths Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone
Oppo's R11 will be the company's most widely available smartphone when it launches with multiple carriers on 7 August.
Oppo has announced that the Oppo R11 will be offered by a wide variety of carriers when it becomes available in Australia on 7 August 2017. Specifically, it will be offered by Woolworths Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone on 24-month contract terms. That means it's the company's most widely offered handset ever, given that the vast majority of Oppo's success in Australia has come through direct sales, with Woolworths Mobile being the one carrier to offer most of the Oppo range on contract in the past.
So far, only Virgin has offered up indicative pricing with the R11 available for $45 on a 2GB plan. Based on Virgin's current plan pricing, that suggests a $5 monthly handset repayment fee at that tier, which strongly hints the cost will be zero at higher price points. That suits nicely with the R11's existing $649 outright price point because that's a value level where you typically don't pay much in the way of handset fees on a two-year contract.
We had already pegged the Oppo R11 as a great value mid-range handset for its powerful performance and exceptional camera, but that was based on its outright pricing with no announced carriers when we reviewed it.
With Oppo managing to get more carriers on board for the R11 than it has for any previous handset, it looks as though you'll have a wide carrier choice when it becomes available locally. The one catch, according to released specifications, is that the local model will be single-SIM only but the international model will be available as a dual-SIM phone.
